I think it will help us alot.

I'd prefer Griffin
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

It will help some. What will really help is when/if he does the free agent meeting here with the team.

Or how much does Clippers losing to Jazz help our chances at Blake Griffin?

Probably a Clippers loss would have more effect -- they've had several playoff chances and done nothing with them. That could be the breaking point for Griffin.

If the Jazz lose, well, not that much was expected of them, and they're still a younger up-and-coming team.

In either case, a conference finals appearance by the Celts would be a crucial second step ...

I'd prefer the Jazz losing badly, Hayward joining us and the Clippers keeping Blake. We have LA's first round pick in 2019, lottery protected. If it hasn't conveyed that year or the next, it turns into two seconds.

So we want the Clippers to keep as a playoff team for two more years, for our own's sake.

I don't.  He will re-sign in Utah if he wants to stay there.

With the cap projections diving everytime they revise it, I am becoming more doubtful that GH will come here. I would put my money on the Clips in this one, predicting Jazz early exit. If that dissapoints him enough to take 20/30/40 mil $ less, I will gladly take the opportunity.

I don't care to add Hayward. I don't think he's significantly better than Crowder, more athletic than Jaylen Brown (or potentially Josh Jackson). He doesn't fit a big need for us.

I'd rather sign a big man or IT to a max deal.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Of course it doesn't. Have you ever heard a player, after losing a first round series to agood team, say "Well I don't like the fact that this young team lost a series to a good veteran team, so I am moving on to another team." There's so many other reasons to consider than being butt hurt over a 1st round playoff loss it not funny. I voted no...emphatically.

True. Last years facts show that big name free agents go to the teams they beat. Horford and Durant started this unusual trend.

Yup, and lost to in the conference Finals, to a team that with his added presence would almost ensure a ring. Other factors involved maxing out his ability to make money. The one and one contract allows him to opt out and be free again when its most advantageous for him to maximize his earnings. Lots went into his decision including possibly deciding he didn't like playing with Westbrook.

Thereare so many other factors that go into a player deciding to leave their team: local endorsements, national endorsements because he is with a more popular team, lifestyle, education for kids, wife happiness, climate, and of course, ability to get closer to winning a ring.

Hayward is on a young team in a tough conference. They aren't going to the WCF. Losing to a good Clippers team isn't going to sour him so much on Utah that he feels he has to leave. Most likely, if he leaves its because of a bunch of other reasons.

I would rather take a look at a veteran big man to help our rebounding depth.

If we sign Hayward we are kinda saying goodbye to Crowder IMO. That doesnt significantly adress  our size disadvantage or rebounding. Just adding a shooter, while very talented, doesnt improve us much.

We can get an excellent wing player in the draft instead of overpaying him.

Hayward strikes me as happy in Utah. Even if they lose in first round, that franchise is headed in a good direction. My best guess is that he will sign max with Jazz.

Griffin more intriguing. Better fit. Still pretty young. And Clips in decline as a franchise.
