why isn't anyone talking about whether the trade makes NOP better. They already have a monster big in Davis, now they get the best center in the league. Why is the topic here all about the low price and lost opportunity. Why aren't we talking about the great pairing and the catapult of NOP into NBA contention. Is this because Boogie does not move the needle for them. Who leads NOP now? Boogie or Davis?

If Boogie is such a head case does he destroy the locker room in NO?

I'm just gonna post what I wrote in another thread:

Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, and Jrue Holiday is a heck of a core. All under 26 and should complement each other on the court. On a pure talent level, AD and Boogie are reminiscent of Duncan and Robinson. Jrue has the playmaking and shooting ability to fit VERY well next to them.

If NO can add some solid 3 and D wings, that could be a high caliber team for a long time.

Well, we'll find out if his head case-ness is because of the situation or not.

There are people who believe that his frustrations are warranted because his team is so incompetent. He's now going to a team with some help, surely the technical fouls are still going to be there but it will be interesting to see if his locker room presence would be different now that he's in a, on paper, good team.

They have Quincy Pondexter. He gets back and healthy, he's the perfect winger for that core.

Just need another wing and they're ready to make noise.

They both should be good together, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them get into the playoffs, but they're not as good as GSW, SAS, or even LAC. So without another move, I don't see this as a huge deal for NOP.

They've got 3/5 of a stellar starting lineup.

Unfortunately, the rest of the roster stinks, and so does their coach. Boogie really came into his own when he was coached in a defensive system. Gentry won't get the best out of him.

Under Alvin Gentry ... No. He is not a good coach and does not know how to leverage talent into wins, especially with conundrums like two guys playing the same position and who have high usage rates.

Which is another red flag for me with Boogie apologists: the franchise was incompetent enough for his bratty behavior but not enough for him to want to out? He hated losing but he was ready to cash in for $209m and tether himself to them for his prime.

I was thinking this to... Spurs all over again. Plus AD likes to play PF. These bigs can step out and pop the 3!

This. And little in the way of assets to improve the rest of the roster. Will they get it together before Cousins contract expires? I doubt it.

I think the Pelicans next year can be really good. This year they still have holes and it's late to really gel and they're still looking at a lower playoff seed facing one of Golden State, San Antonio or Houston. So a first round playoff exit is probably the best case scenario for them.

I like Davis and Cousins and have HATED the teams put around them the past few years. So at least New Orleans has a chance to make some smart moves and build this team into something. I don't really trust the front office there to make smart decisions, but at least there's a different margin for error.
