This is coming off the heels of the Kevin Love surgery news:  He is going to be out for 6 weeks.

On top of that the Celtics are currently 36-19 while the Cavs are 37-16.  We're only 2 games back.

Considering how well we are playing and the fact that Cleveland will only have 2/3 of their big 3 available in the next 6 weeks, this might be the best possible window for the Celtics to take over that #1 seed in the East.

Advantages of this:  We don't have to face Cleveland until the Conference finals.  We get to play the weakest playoff teams first AND we get home court advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Celtics are rolling lately, and Cleveland is hurting.  Can we do it?

Vote now and explain why you voted as you did.

Now that Love is gone for a few month, I think we have a legit shot

Plus we can avoid both cle/tor in the 2nd rd as they would have to face each other.

I think a Bogut type would help that cause. .

Even if Love is still active I think we would've ended up the #1 seed.  With Love out, there's no doubt in my mind.

I always said when I left the Celtics, I could not go to heaven, because that would
be a step down. I am pure 100 percent Celtic. I think if you slashed my wrists, my

So you're calling it?  Pretty bold.

I will take the weenie way out.  Can we?  Yes, still mathematically in it.  Might we?  I'd put the percentage at 5-10%.  Will we?  Um, no.  No we won't.

With love out for 6 weeks I think we have a better chance than 5-10% Id put us at 35%

I'd like to get a little help in the form of a big that can rebound and defend.

But yeah...without Love the Cavs can be over taken, and beaten. Lebron will be playing a lot of additional minutes in his absents to hold that number one spot.

Lebron can not play any more minutes than he has been. He already is playing too much...unless the Cavs are incredibly stupid they will realize their important season is in the playoffs and not worry about pushing tooth and nail for one potential extra home game against the celtics in the playoffs.

That has to be the objective right now, with Love out for extended time.

Ainge needs to make the kind of deal that vaults the Celtics into the no.1 seed and home court.

Right now, he doesn't quite have the horses to do it. And Toronto is desperate to make a stretch run.

Absolutely.  And even if you make a deal there's no guarantee that they guy you bring in meshes with the team over a 2 or 3 month period with few practices. Examples being the attempts to strengthen the team during the Doc era.

Toronto was four games behind us to start the night and they just lost to the lowly Bulls.

I definitely think it's possible we catch Cleveland, but they are three games up in the loss column and we aren't exactly winning the tie-breaker against them right now. Hopefully we will be healthy after the break and will be ready to continue on our run.
