It is always strange when a team drafts the position that they are already strong at. It definitely raises some eyebrows.
It says a couple of things, for example:
- We don't find the weakness at the other position so glaring or unsolvable.
- We don't believe others are as good to be worthy of the pick.
- You (current player) are good but we need better at that spot in the future.
- We would like to add extra fuel to the fire and see you battle at every practice.
In our case, it is even more intriguing.
We are not probably just drafting the position that they are already strong at, but where we have a stud cause Isaiah is just that right now. Unstoppable scorer.
Now imagine DA inserting a highly regarded guard like Fultz between IT, Smart, AB and possibly TR.
As far as I can read the sentiment on the forum, it is that the fans would like to do (J.J. fans excluded

for now)
If all goes well, we will pick first and we would probably go with Fultz.
What is hovering above my head is this question.
Could a competitive guy like IT take Fultz under his wing and not care about the future possible loss of the spotlight, minute reduction, role change or even eventual trade just cause he is his fellow alumni?
Would that help at all?
Would that make IT tolerate the move a bit more?
I know that Marquette, Kentucky, NC, UCLA and other alumni stay in some sort of a brotherhood all throughout their NBA carriers.
How does this dynamic affect the whole "in next 2 years we have to resolve our guard rotation" question?
And how do you think Isaiah would react?
