KG gives his thoughts
LOL at that whole show. Finally some normal speak in the media.. But KG's point seemed diffuse. Like he was dissing the "leaders" (Wade and Butler), but then defends Wade as an experienced leader (with no reason why Wade is not fundamentally at fault), leaves Butler out to dry - maybe reasonably - but he doesn't say one way or the other whether he faults Butler for failing as a leader.
Meanwhile Rondo has been an absolutely terrible leader since he was traded to Dallas.
P.S. Is Sheed in shape? Have that dude back in a second.
You can tell KG was worked up over this, but he was basically just rambling. I was shocked that Kenny later called it the "the best Area 21 I've seen" (at about 5:28 in the clip). To be honest, the other Area 21's haven't been that great (sometimes funny, but nothing insightful or special), but KG was all over the place there.
He called it the best because of the passion that KG was speaking with. He articulated it quite well to me. Basically you don't do what D Wade and Butler did, instead you look at the guy across the locker room (all of about 5ft) and go and talk to him, work through it and at the end feel more accomplishment from it. That's the whole idea of brotherhood in sport. He fell short of supporting Rondo though.
The Inside the NBA team pretty much unanimously supported Rondo which I thought was interesting. He came out to say that the young guys on that team aren't doing any wrong, that the leadership needs to improve, which is exactly what Wade and Butler should be saying.
The big 3 and Doc held this head case in check for as long as they could.
I love Rondo's game as well , but it was suited on a team like the Big 3.
He always had an ego and it showed.
KG and Pierce still talk about Rondo as their little brother. Bradley goes out of his way in interviews to talk about his friendship with Rondo and what he did to help him early in his career. With Dallas as the exception he has made allies wherever he is and has shown to be a good influence on younger members of the team. It's media bias that portrays him as egotistical, and it is his lack of media presence that allows that notion to build. We never hear from Rondo because he's a private person, so instead we have one side of the story being pushed.
