- Very reliant on outside jumpers
- Poor interior defense
- Awful defensive rebounding
- Average at forcing turnovers
- Too many opponent free throws

It's similar to previous years, but now they're not forcing enough turnovers or doing a good enough job rotating on defense to make up for all the possessions that they concede on the boards.

They are much better offensively than they have been in the past, but when their outside jumpers aren't falling they can't score enough points to make up for the poor defense & rebounding.

Danny ainge.  Relies too much on his past gm deals.  Whiffed in numerous draft picks only to get nothing in return i.e. James young, olynyk, rozier.  Brought in it and blew our tank chances.  Has a coach that is clueless.  Time to. Blow the whole [dang] thing up!

Amir Johnson has no business starting anymore.

It should go to Jerebko (defensive quickness) or Olynyk (offensive upgrade).

I'm in favor of the "Start Jerebko" idea, at least as a short term solution until they add somebody who can defend the glass or the perimeter better than Amir.

A star level talent

A specific role big man (big bottom rebounder)

A guard with size (length) that can defend.

The other thing I notice is they are playing more like a normal NBA team now.   They take nights off instead of the intense defense every single night.

Fans that can stay patient during the usual ups and downs of the usual NBA season of a good team that is not a contender or great.

What is wrong with this team? They struggle for consistent intensity on defence. Fighting over screens, finding a body when the shot goes up etc.

The game last night was a good example of what we can be when we have that intensity. It allowed us to overcome a -22 FT difference!

Major change is not needed to the personnel. Change is needed to the application of the players, they need to get their heads out of their arse and play hard, play like they are a team that wants to punch above its weight and challenge Cleveland this year. If they played with the intensity and desire they had last year they would be able to give some of the best teams a shock

wd brings up an excellent point here, the better NBA teams just can't bring the intensity every night in the middle of long 82 game seasons. They go through lulls and lose multiple games in a row and play .500 ball for a period. It happens to just about every good team that isn't elite. Just look at Toronto and Cleveland. They have been losing simultaneously as Boston and so the Celtics have not lost ground during their losing streak. Bad stretches happen, its just the nature of the beast.

- Horford isn't as laterally quick as we may have thought, which means he can be beaten on D in the pick and roll. And he's an average rebounder, which means you've downgraded your rebounding when you factor in the loss of Sullinger. I still like what Horford gives this team, but I'm beginning to think he's more of an asset on offense than defense.
- Amir Johnson has continued to deteriorate. Meaning that your starting 4 and 5 together lack some of the the athleticism to stay with fast, physical teams.
- Bradley has been injured.
- Smart is a bit heavier this year and not as quick (from my eyeball test, with no hard evidence to back this up), and he's had to expend more energy on the offensive end. I still think his D is elite, but I've seen guys blow by him more frequently this year.
- You're slowly integrating Jaylen Brown with a few minutes a night. He's got loads of defensive potential, but he tends to get lost. That's to be expected; dude's 20.

You guys please tell me if you agree or disagree, or let me know what I left out.

Agree with pretty much everything here.

Smart in particular. I don't think he is defending at the same level as either of his first 2 years in the league. He is not as quick as he was then. He is bigger and slower and does not defend quick guards well anymore.

Rozier and Jaylen have been problems for the defense. They are the worst offenders on the team (outside of Isaiah) defensively. Especially Rozier. Both guys get lost far too often. The team defense will tighten up once Rozier is no longer in the rotation and they switch back to a 3 guard backcourt rotation.

Amir has continued to get worse. He is a 4th/5th caliber big man now.

And Jae Crowder is not defending at the same level as last year. I wonder if he is playing through an injury or something because he just doesn't have the same level of quickness, activity, feistiness on defense as last year.
