Nice night for Noel last night. 19 points on 8-10 shooting, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks and 2 steals in a start. Plus Philly beat the Clippers without Embiid.

As the season progresses, Noel looks better and better and the Celtics continue to struggle with stuff he'd almost definitely help.

I'm not sure if he's waiting on something, such as Boogie or another big to come available, or if he just wants maximal cap space this summer for some ill-conceived pursuit of a free agent we'll have no chance at, but I think either way it's about time to get this guy. And I don't necessarily think this would prevent us from getting a guy like Hayward this summer either. Crowder is always a very tradeable asset for cap space if we get Hayward, especially with Jaylen already on board at the 3, so I can't imagine it's due to that either. I still think he's just holding out hope for a Boogie trade, for better or worse.

No sense giving up a real piece right now for a guy who doesn't make you a threat to Cleveland this season and can be signed with cap space over the summer.

This was his best game of the season, by a lot, but I'm not going to completely dismiss his really mediocre play all season because of one game (although even more impressive coming against a good front line). If he puts a month together of this kind of play I will be fully back aboard the Celtics getting him, even if it is at a salary.

However, there have been many issues this year with him surrounding his attitude, maturity, consistency and subpar defense compared to his rookie season. I am sure some of this is a result of the Philly situation, but not 100% convinced it can all be attributed to that.

This summer I think the idea of Brooklyn throwing a 23 million dollar a year at him (they through 19 million a year at the mediocre crabbe) and him being a bad contract for 4-5 years. Similarly, I would not be upset if Philly decided to match him out of stubborness he continues to pout and they have another year of dealing with this circus before taking on a bad contract to just get rid of him.

It's worth noting that his big game was as a starting center. He's a center, period, and when he is, he's pretty good.

Last year as a starting center:
13.6 pt / 8.3 rb / 2 ast / 2 stl / 1.5 blk / 55% FG and elite defensive +/-

Last Year as a starting forward:
9.4 pt / 8.0 rb / 1.7 ast / 1.6 stl / 1.6 blk / 49% FG

Put him near the basket and he's capable of being a 15/9/2/2/2 type with plus defense. Play him as a forward and I bet you're disappointed.

I'm going to have to find his address and start knocking on his door.

I'm not as big on Hayward as others but this actually does make sense. There would be a lot of teams drooling over a player like Crowder, especially with his contract. If we were able to get a real asset for Crowder and that opened up room for Hayward (we'd have to already have the deal in place, more or less) that would be a win.

I was on the Smart for Noel bandwagon a while back, maybe it's time that bandwagon was restarted.

It just makes so little sense. Philly would want a guard who shoots better. We wouldn't give up a guy who is cost controlled for an extra year for a guy who will max out as a 5th starter on this team.

The value difference between the two players is huge.

16 and 13 with a steal and a block last night in another win. 5/9 from the floor and 6/6 from the line. He only played 28 minutes, too.

Maybe Philly is just waiting until the deadline hoping he'll play himself into better return on a trade.

exactly which is why Philly wouldn't make that trade as Noel is a better player than Smart.
