I won't go as far as voting Embiid as a starter. He haven't really done anything much yet. I'll give it a couple of years. Same with Towns.

My votes:

Horford
IT
AB
Giannis
Derozan

Wow. Way tougher than I expected that to be.

The only obvious picks are GA, Lebron, Westbrook, and Harden.

Voting All Star starters = it is not about who deserves it the most. It is about who you want to see. That is why I voted for Embiid. There is no other center in the East I want to see in the ASG more than Embiid. He is an electric talent.

Like Kobe was back in 1998 - who was fantastic in that game.

I've just been voting for Embiid every day because I have no integrity, want to she him Shaqtin a Fool during the ASG and because he tried to ask Rihanna out but she told him to come back when you're an all-star. A fact he has been mentioning repeatedly in interviews and twitter.

Also if Kobe was an AS last year anybody can be one.

I've been voting for Embiid too.  Don't really believe the Rihanna story.  Think Embiid is just having fun and also promoting himself.  It would be funny if they actually went on a date and then she tells him to get a 2nd date he needs to be MVP.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

It's not like Cleveland was tearing it up before Lebron came back to town. Ever since The Cs acquired IT, they have been electric...and they were extra-horrible just before acquiring him.

Kyrie has had a very good career as the #1 pick; that doesn't mean IT isn't more deserving just because he was 60th. It's all perception. Same logic goes for Wall, but at least Kyrie's team is actually good.

The Cs schedule eases up quite a bit in January. It and the Cs should be on an upward trajectory going into the break. Hopefully our PG I will be starting the all-star game.

Kyrie and Isaiah have both had nice careers. Early on Kyrie was given the benefit of the doubt because he was the #1 pick. He has then justified this faith with an incredibly clutch finals performance. Outplaying Steph Curry and hitting the dagger three.

This regular season thus far Isaiah has been a better player, but Kyrie is the bigger star and the better player in my opinion.

I am glad for Kyrie (not really) that he was able hit a big shot in the finals, but your point about Isaiah being the better player so far is literally the only thing that matters when it comes to the current season's all-star game.

I was more saying that Kyrie's status as a brighter star than Thomas has less to do with when they were picked and more to do with Kyrie's performance in the playoffs last year.

I vote for who I think deserves a starting spot most, coupled with who I think are the iconic players of each conference in that season.

I'd rather watch Zinger than Embiid, to be honest.  Plus, I just can't vote a guy for All-Star when he only plays roughly half the game for a terrible team.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Considering that fan votes make up only 50% of the votes for starters this year, I can see IT starting the all-star game. It should be less of a popularity vote and more reflective of current success this season with this new voting system. I can't see NBA players and media , who make up the other 50% of the vote, snubbing IT.

Yeah I could totally see it being false, it's still hilarious that he is mentioning it in post game interviews though.

I think Porzingis is deserving of an All star spot. Drummond, Whiteside, and Howard have been disappointing. Horford is solid but hasn't elevated the Celts like many hoped.

Porzingis is putting up 20 ppg on great shooting percentages, with 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. He's also the only reason the Knicks are worth watching, and the Knicks are a playoff team right now.

Love has maybe a better statistical case, but he plays with LeBron and is almost never the first or even second guy the defense is worried about. Porzingis is more impressive and more fun to watch.
I'm going to keep voting for Horford, but you've pretty much convinced me on this point.

Although that would mean the Knicks would likeley wind up with 2 all stars, which feels kind of weird for a team as mediocre as they are.
