Brown is a pure three who is young enough like Paul Pierce was to handle some shooting guard. He also put on a three point shooting clinic when auditioning for the Celtics. No one was covering him, but he showed he can hit them.
Larry Bird was 22 when he joined the Celtics? The only thing preventing Jaylen Brown from a bigger role is his inexperience.
That's why we must play him as much as possible. The sooner he becomes accustomed to NBA competition, the better we will be in the playoffs. He shows a pretty good understanding of defense, and when he finds himself out of place, he is quick enough to fix the mistake. He can help out others. He has physical talent that Smart lacks, but with Marcus and Crowder to lead the way, Jaylen Brown could someday (hopefully soon) become a very special all-star including on defense.
Put him on Philadelphia and he might have become the next Evan Turner. This is why we must be patient. Jaylen Brown is part of the solution, but he is not ready yet for a big role and we are too good to just play him millions of minutes.
Jaylen may or may not become a big rotation piece this year. I could see him ending up as a consistent 25 minute per game player by the end of 2016-17. He could play 15 minutes of small forward and ten as shooting guard. That would probably mean Rozier out of the picture. I think Marcus has made a leap at point guard.
Crowder can play the four if the other team is small because he is made out of concrete. I'd rather Jaylen Brown develop into a Michael Jordan type force on offense before trying to bulk up into a Paul Pierce. Jaylen seems to have a slim body type. Maybe that is Zeller's problem. And the tall guy on the Knicks looks like he's underfed. Body types are a huge factor. Olynyk seems to be much tougher than Zeller. I never would have guessed that happening when the front court was basically Tyler, Kelly and Jared.
I used to want Zeller played more. He was our only pure center when he first arrived unless I'm forgetting Jason Collins or someone.
I think we will sign Sanders. It makes too much sense. I don't think Brad is thinking small ball as much anymore. He will keep it in his bag of tricks, but he is not as stubborn like Doc was. Brad obviously likes to go big, too, at times. Stevens is interesting for substitutions and how he seems to be able to keep everyone happy. He was benched in college despite being better than younger players. The coach said the new guys needed to learn because the seniors wouldn't be able to help in the next year. Brad understands karma. Doc excelled at that too, with atmosphere and chemistry, until he got burnt out as a Celtic and proceeded to commit NBA treason.
So Crowder maybe can play the four or Jerebko is the pure four. Mickey gets no chance. Olynyk, Al, and Amir are pure power forward/center hybrids. Zeller is a pure center who can't defend centers.
The schedule continues to look tough. We clearly need Noel or Sanders or to keep rooting for Olynyk and Amir for continued improvement and that should suffice for a bridge year. Jaylen Brown is the least of our worries. He is going nowhere unless there is a fireworks trade.
I don't think any trade will sway Danny to go all in. Why should he trade Jaylen, Marcus or any young guy when there are two more probable top five picks coming in?
Gerald had a good game for once. Jaylen and Green are probably competing for some of the same minutes as cups of coffee off the bench. Jaylen is definitely the best option for backup small forward by a mile.
Jaylen Brown will benefit a lot with team practices.
I'd go with Smart, Brown, Crowder, Amir and Horford for a big big lineup.
I want more Jaylen Brown minutes. He's not that bad for a rookie. He's actually definitely serviceable most games and at times dominating and somehow looks good and basketball wise for his age.
Ainge is a genius. He has proven himself. Jaylen Brown is his crowning achievement. Isaiah and Al are bridges or the next Boston sports folklore heroes.
I should have held my ground we are #1 for the future rankings.
