Im puzzled how can you question Yabu's competition when Giannis, Gobert and Ginobili played in a league just bad as CBA if not worse.
Ill put most European leagues way a head of CBA.
NBA dropouts do not average 30+ points in Europe.

I am puzzled you are  comparing so easily apples and serfing (not even oranges)!!!!
Giannis played in a semi pro league against nobodies
Gobert played in France in a decent league against real basketball players definately better than CBA
Manu..... Where to start here ? Manu played in Italy one of the top 3 European leagues at the time (which makes it one of the top 4 leagues in the world) got a couple of MVPs and won the Euroleague.

I am puzzled that you don't question a league where
Freddette  scores 39ppg (6ppg in NBA)
MarShon Brooks scores 36ppg (7,7ppg in NBA)
Esteban Bastista is a 19p-13r player (1,8p-2,5r pg in NBA and he failed miserably in the Greek league!)
Jianlian Yi has a 25p-10r per game (8p 5r pg in NBA)!!!!!!!

in a very naive projection Yabu's 18p 8r translate to 4-5p 2r ...

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
The CBA seems to be clearly an inferior league and I am not sure why Yab is playing over there, rather than a Euro league; however, at least he is performing and that is all we can ask for at this point. Perhaps getting major reps and being a major focus of his team were important factors for his development (in his mind). Hopefully, when he comes over, he will be confident and productive.

This has morphed some into a comparison of non-NBA professional leagues.  I think the key comparison is how does the CBA compare to the NCAA.  Yabusele is essentially in the minor leagues which I think is still better competition than NCAA.  It may be AA over AAA or something like that but most NBA players come from college.  Duke played Elon last night.  How competitive is that?  Think Marbury could run with the Elon Phoenix?

The difference may be the teaching of fundamentals.  I don't know.  Somehow I think if he was at Duke or even say Gonzaga, he would probably be learning more fundamentals.  Hard to say, rookies come out of college pretty raw these days.

On the plus side, I think the life skills learned in a non-NBA pro league probably prepare a player better for the NBA grind.  College life is pretty sheltered and I think it is a big change to go from one year of college to the NBA lifestyle.  The CBA in my opinion is a fine place to stash him.
