I'll use the same logic I did with Horford last year:

Utah currently is about the same as us with them having Hayward and us not. Maybe he will realize how much better we will be than Utah with us with him and Utah without.

It worked with Horford and Atl...right?
Atlanta screwed around with Horford.  Utah is going to go all out to retain Hayward.

Who else is a worthy contract in FA this summer? If we don't swing for a max free agent this summer, we lose all our flexibility because there is no way we'll have any cap space next summer.

If we land him, we gain a world of more flexibility with our current assets. Suddenly, Jaylen / Crowder don't seem untouchable. Those Brooklyn picks / draft choices suddenly seem movable.

If we can flip Crowder, Brooklyn pick, Jaylen for a quality / "star" big man, we can be a contender.

I agree with this.

If Hayward is really going to prioritize title contention, he will sign with a team that has a top player under the age of thirty. If that's not an option, he'll stay in Utah for the five year max.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

I don't think there is a team that meets that criteria and has the cap space to pay him 30M.

There is about only 30 guys worth the max and every team can afford two max guys easy. This is why guys get over paid. If you under pay AB and IT you can afford to over pay Hayward. So yes sign him and make Crowder a dominating 6th man or let him play PF at times. Sign me up for the 9 man rotation of
IT, AB, Hayward, Hordford, Cousins
Smart, Crowder, Lab, Zizic

Cousins and Lab
for
Rozier, Brown, AJ, Nets 2017, clippers 1st, and Grizz 1st.

I would sign him. I would say we are in the running very much so.  My issue with Hayward is we are trying to beat the GS warriors of the world and they have better pieces.  We are basically becoming like wests lakers who couldnt beat us.

Hopefully we can have a good mix of offense and defnse.  Anything is better than crowder bricking 3's at ths point.  Play him at the 4 or something or make him a defensive specialist off the bench.

IT
Bradley
Hayward
Brown/Crowder
Horford

GEt a rim protector in here and play Marcus and Rozier like we do anyways.  Trade for Noel.  He is mobile and can block shots even on the perimeter.

Tired of KO and Zeller in general. What we  need are mobile defensive minded big men to go with Horford and another scoring wing. Yab can provide some muscle inside.

Trade for Noel or draft Isaac or GIles.

If we can't get a superstar which it seems unlikely at this point this is the way to go. The only issue here is selling ourselves short but it's still plan solid. We are actually not selling ourselves short compared to most scenarios.  People are expecting m ichael jordan but we have brown and he might not exist otherwise.  We lost out on Durant.

Utah is better than Boston and in a better position to win a title in the next few seasons.  Even if Hayward leaves Utah, it won't be to go to Boston.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Being on a team that currently has a similar if not slightly better roster is not the same as being in a better position to compete for a title in the next coming seasons. Jazz are in the west. They will still have to get through Memphis, Clippers, Blazers, Houston, San Antonio, and GS.

We are far more likely to compete in our conference finals than the Jazz. I get that we shouldn't strive to be the best of the worst but the reality of the situation is that Utah has no track record to give a prospective free agent hope that they can take the next step to a title contending team. Even ignoring our deep history, DA is still one of a handful of GM's that has built a recent title team in the last decade.

If we're going on team more likely to compete for a title in the next 5 years, Celtics > Jazz.

Where do you come up with this stuff?  You tend to state your OPINION as fact rather consistently.  You tend to not offer FACTS to support your rather dogmatic statements much of the time.

Utah is 16-10.  That is better than Boston is it not?

The rest was obviously an opinion, but George Hill is comparable to Thomas.  Gobert and Favors are a far better front court than Boston and both are 25 or younger.  Rodney Hood is a rising star.  They have Exum, Mack, and Lyles as youngish guys with potential on the bench and cagey veterans like Joe Johnson and Boris Diaw.  Utah is better than Boston and has a better shot at a title in the next few seasons.  Now sure, long term as a result of the Brooklyn picks, Boston has a chance to overtake Utah, but not in the short term.
