Jaylen Brown is very mature and intelligent. he know what to say and how to behave like a pro.
He sounded very good in all his interviews.
(you can compare to the Lakers young crew who really talk to much)

I still can't get over the fact that we're like 13 games into this season and there isn't a single 2016 draftee making a name for himself. We're talking historically pathetic draft if this continues.  Last I checked, #27 pick Pascal Siakam and his 5.8 point, 4.3 rebound averages would be the frontrunner for Rookie of the Year if it wasn't for the 2014 Draftees (Embiid and Saric).   It's amazing.  Buddy Hield is leading all 2016 draftees with 8.7ppg (38% shooting and 24% from three).   Andrew Harrison is leading all 2016 draftees in mpg (24.1).  They weren't kidding when they said this draft was weak outside of Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram (considered a project).  Jamal Murray had a nice night tonight.  Maybe he'll be the first to start making some noise.

I do think Jaylen has a bright future ahead of him.  He's young and this the perfect situation for an athletic raw prospect to slowly develop.  I love his mentality.  Long-term, I hope he'll be seen as a stand-out from this draft.

You're shocked that after 13 games, a 19 year old hasn't dominated? I'd be shocked if that did happen.

Your team has to really suck to play such a young, raw player for over 20 minutes a game.
He wasn't limiting it to Jaylen, he meant in the entire draft.  Now granted the best player in the draft has yet to play and the 2nd best player was always seen as very raw, but his point remains.  This was a really weak draft.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

no I'm shocked that we are 13 games into the season and the entire 2016 draft class looks historically bad.   There's typically a few guys at least averaging double digit points and 30+ minutes.  This class so far looks terrible.  Falls in line with what I read prior to the draft which is the guys in the 3-8 range would have all been selected 10th or later in 2014 or 2015... and based on early reports 2017 as well.

Most aren't getting minutes. Everyone is kicking the tires on their full rosters this year to see what's what before this big trade deadline coming up.

Odd that Valentine is seeing good minutes though..

Jaylen hasnt done anything in this league to be saying this type of stuff.

He can still voice his dislike for what Zaza did though.
I dont think he can. Hes a rookie. He isnt owed some kind of respect.

If you dont want to see the Warriors dancing around your building then dont let them come into your house and blow you out.

Simple as that. I love that hes mad but show this anger in the gym not at the podium.
Agree 100% Ilikes.  I am glad that Jaylen is upset, but a rookie averages less than 10 points a game has no place saying anything like this publicly.

So, then, the only rookies allowed to say anything like this publicly are Joel Embiid and Dario Saric?
I don't know what they said so won't comment directly.  However, Embiid (at least) is averaging 18 ppg and is already the alpha on his team (regardless of how much they suck).  So yeah, I am okay with him talking.

That's not normal.  There's usually a handful of rookies who get big minutes out of the gate.  The fact that the most any rookie is getting from the 2016 class is 24mpg is startling and probably has more to do with the ineptitude of this rookie class than some widespread stifling of rookie minutes.  Picks 3-8 were labelled prospects with role player potential.  From that standpoint, it makes sense they are all getting role player minutes at best.

Look no further than Buddy Hield.  Four years of College ball and considered perhaps the most NBA-ready of the bunch.  Playing on a garbage team that was desperate for contributors.  Despite the many minutes available to a rookie in this situation, he was only averaging 20 minutes per game.  And now, he's seeing his minutes reduced (7 and 6 in his last two).  That's shocking.  If this continues, you're going to see articles written about how crappy this draft class was.  I'm a bit early.  There's still time for someone to step up.  But it's something to keep an eye on.

I think it's possible the NBA is a little more complicated now than it was in the past and these young guys are taking a little longer to grasp more complicated defensive strategies and offensive sets. That and I think guys are generally younger. Almost everyone is 1-and-Done now which means guys like Wiggins and Parker take 2 years before they look like how we think they're supposed to.

We get spoiled when we see guys like Lebron or Durant come in and have an immediate impact but those are 2 of the 5 best players of the last 25 years, so we can't judge everyone else against them. But I think, more and more, we can't judge guys based on their rookie season like we used to be able to.
