kelly played well considering that long, long layoff and rehab
i put particular attention to his positional defense and i can see why his numbers are good
he got a good run 25 minutes, got 6 rebounds, set good screens and played with confidence

I'm looking forward to seeing how he fits in this year.  I still think there's a chance he ends up starting next to Horford.  He's been our best shooter.  I want to see him taking more shots.

i agree horford knows kelly is a smart basketball player ,he will add a different dynamic to starting 5 which will increase horfords effectiveness
i forgot to add that kelly was boxing out,he put a body on a guy like we were taught-i can now see why his defensive rating was so high up to his injury last season

His offense was beyond rusty but his defense sure wasn't.  Other than coughing up a couple offensive rebounds to Gortat he looked really good on the defensive end.  Some stats from the game.

Defensive rating with K.O. on the floor 98.8
Defensive rating with K.O. off the floor 158.9

K.O. defended defended 15 shots and gave up 4 buckets according to the tracking data.  The players on the floor with him defended 37 shots and gave up 18 buckets.

With K.O. off the floor Washington had a FG% of 60% and a 3 point % of 72.7%.

We badly need size, and he helped in that regard.   Now for him to hit some shots and get Al back and we should be ok.

Kelly should start with Horford.

Kelly should start with Horford.

Totally agreed. He should also be ramped up to 30 minutes a game sooner rather than later.

He also took a big charge early on. Though yeah, his O was a little rusty, he was being aggressive on both sides of the floor. If KO and Al both play 30 minutes a game this year the team will be good.

Way rusty but I'm glad he's back. I'd like to see him start the next game TBH.
