I'm happy for Smart that he was able to get his three point shot going last night. He supposedly worked hard this summer on it and hopefully last nights 3/6 performance is a good sign going forward.

I'm excited to see if he can carry this over to the next game.

Me too...I'm sure he was gassed from the previous night too...which could have been a blessing as he can't overthink the shot...just let it fly.

He's shooting 33% on the season so far, I think if he could keep that up a lot of people on the site would be happy.

It didn't show as much last night, but against Chicago the night before I thought he showed a lot in the pick and roll. I thought against Chicago he did a great job creating quality looks for other people

My thing is how can move so well on D and offense he is relegated to shooting spot up 3's? He can not finish at the rim. He just has no explosiveness in his game. As in he isn't really fast or a great leaper. This makes it more difficult for him to finish at the rim. He is always going to be offensively challenged and this is not just because he a little trouble with his jumper but he can not create a shot for himself.

I'm a Marcus Smart fan, I feel realize exactly what he is. And I'm fine with it. Marcus is certainly not a problem with this team. I wish he would be a little more consistent with his shooting, and scoring in general too, but his value with intangibles is over highly looked. The Spurs, or the Cavs would love to have him.

I'd also like to see Marcus reevaluate his off season conditioning, maybe it has to do with his eating habits.
I'm not sure that he's in the best condition he can be in. It may be effecting his athleticism a bit.

What is he? The guard version of Draymond Green.

What does that mean? He is smart enough to attack defensive rotations, but probably not good enough offensively to create. He is a good enough passer to have the ball in his hands consistently, but not to be a full-time offense initiator. He is a good enough shooter to hit open threes, but not someone you would draw up plays for consistently (although his shooting form looks much better).

And he is a bull-dog defensively who, when he figures out how to avoid fouls while being physical, will be a nightmare for opponents. He can guard 1-4, draw offensive fouls, make big defensive plays, and wreak enough havoc to make opponents uncomfortable.

Ideally, he would be the 3rd or 4th option on a championship team.

Still not a PG --does not have the handle, he is passing better.  Shot selection is not good--but he is making the good shots he takes.  Now if he can only stop taking bad shots.

Strong on defense, rebounding and coming up with loose balls.

I like him but a he is still  a 2 guard who is weak on offense.

We need to stop treating Smart like he is a finished product. All I'm looking for is improvement. So far in his first two games his shot has looked slightly better, he hasn't been reckless in chucking up 3's and his passing is looking very good.

Perhaps it's because on offense you have the ball in your hands, and on defense you don't.

I never thought of it that way but Smart did have 6 turnovers in game 1. He seems like a good ballhandler though. He doesn't usually turn it over that much.

Anticipation and defense is a totally different mindset than offense though.  Athletically is also different how you move.

Smart never struck me as a great athlete on offense but on defense he does some crazy things.

It's like defensive backs in football, they can't catch the ball on offense but on defense they make plays. Some can do both but it's not as easy a switch to just go play offense if you are good at defense and vice versa.  What position would Tom Brady be good at on defense?

He should be physcially big and strong enough to take advantage of smaller 1's and 2's. He can't create hs own shot. As in he can't get the defender on his back while taking it to the hoop.
