Let's hope he keeps missing wide open layups

Given the title, I thought the post would be about that lol.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

if you feel like Jeremy Lin is going to make a difference please just look at his stats the last 4 years and the consistent direction they have gone in.

he played very well last year as a 6th man for a charlotte team who won as many games as we did. now this is his team. they've got a good coach in Atkinson, who was also the player development coach for the Knicks when Linsanity happened. They've got a good connection with each other, the Lin and Lopez duo should be pretty good.

And GM Marks has surrounded the team with quite a few reclamation projects not unlike the ones that Brad Stevens made look like starter level players (looking at you jordan crawford and kris humphries).

my point is, theyre much better than what people think. are they still gonna give us a good pick? yes. is it gonna be top 3? maybe not. i think they do better than expected.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

They lost their starting PG early in the season and had no depth.  So Lin is automatically an upgrade, but it's not like he's a star.  As long as Anthony Bennett doesn't make an improbable late leap, it's hard to imagine them being too great this year.  I still have more respect for Brook Lopez ability to win games than a lot of folks here.  It's important to remember that prior to last year's disastrous injury-plagued season, the Nets had made the playoffs a couple years in a row.  Playing out of the bottom 5 seems unlikely, but it's not unthinkable.   Any team with no incentive to lose games is dangerous in this league.  Not "playoff" dangerous but "play out of the bottom 5" dangerous.
this is what worries me every year with these nets picks

They might be terrible, but toward the end of the season, they have no reason to completely throw in the towel

It's not as if the players on tanking teams are not trying. All players in this league are fighting for contracts and respect.

And the Nets have already assembled a very poor roster. I also think the front office is resigned that they will be bad, otherwise they wouldn't have dumped most of their vets over the last 14 months or so.

I think they are looking towards 2019, and trying to find some value, especially young value, from the dumpster along the way. The real concern IMO is either some of their young projects have breakout years, or Kenny Atkinson morphs into a genius to can turn water into wine.
The Sixers tanked 3 seasons but only ended up with the worst record last season.  Its easy enough for a team to put no offense or poor defense lineups on the court to help ensure losses.  Also, players on tanking teams may still try on offense (not necessarily fundamentally sound offense) but are probably much less inclined to do so on defense.

Brooklyn are guaranteed bottom 3. Not the least bit worried. I was more worried they might win 30 games last year.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Only thing keeping the Nets out of the bottom 3 are multiple significant injuries to other cellar dweller teams. And that's with Lopez and RHJ healthy.

They are hot, flaming garbage and they STIIIIINNKKKKK.

Jermey Lin is a bum, Lopez is solid. Most of their team sucks. Jeremy Lin is going to destroy their efficiency. They've got Lopez attempting multiple 3's a game already this year.
Starting point guards are going have a field day burning Lin off the dribble and in the pick and roll, and it's going to put a lot of pressure on Lopez, who doesn't have Thad Young there to clean up the boards and come for weakside help.

If Lopez misses 20 games+ they are a lock for the #1 pick. If he plays a full season they'll be fighting with Philly for that #1 pick now that Ben is injured.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Jeremy Lin is not a bum. The Hornets didn't miss a beat when he came in for Kemba last year. He will do good for the Nets.
