Not gonna read all posts sorry but reflect to the subject and the youtube video. Still don't understand the fascination with Hinkie. He's done nothing that hasn't been done before him (unlike Danny who it seem every year sets new standard in GM-ing and still gets plenty of hate even around here...) and still people keep talking about him. He doesn't know mouch about basketball and he admit it (that he watches basketball to learn whats beyond numbers). I have watched first 36 seconds of your video and it tells you all. People easily forget how bad all GM's and whole Sixers organisation was before him and now all of a sudden, the same people are glorifying him for doing something rational!? That being said, I think that's the main problem with all this is that you using very bad reference ratios when you comparing what hes done in Philly. Compare him to what Presti has done in Sea/Okc, RJ in Sas, Danny in Bos... and you get the real picture. Now, Sixers have no franchise (or we can use starting) PG, no starting SG, they have three starting centers with two of them to prove they can stay healthy, plus they gonna have to sell two of them on the cheap, they have Saric who is a good player, they have Simmons who is so overhyped already and didn't even played yet (now he's out for the year to)... I mean c'mon guys they are miles and miles from being a solid team... time will tell what current players will become but for now please stop this Hinkie nonsense...
Definitely see more people calling Hinkie a joke than glorifying him.  But the fact is, if embiid and simmons end up as expected, nobody is going to care about the past 3 years.

I've found myself agreeing with lb more in more in these threads lately. I think that, coupled with the good fortune of the Simmons injury, the 76ers have finally turned a new leaf

The Simmons injury allows the team to focus on other priorities before integrating their other franchise player.   This lets them focus on figuring out the center issue as well as give Dario Saric lots of reps.    Obviously, they'd prefer to have a healthy Simmons right now, but with him out extended time, the team can at least divert their attention elsewhere.  They clearly have a lot of things they need to figure out.  They now have more roster minutes to play with which I assume will help them come to conclusions quicker.

We saw a micro example of that tonight with our own team.  Boston needs to figure out their final roster spots.  Rozier going down wasn't the best thing in the world, but at least with Rozier out the remainder of the game, they had more time to focus on having a close look at Marcus Smart as a ball handler, and let the other scrubs get minutes to see who might be a keeper.

agree 100%. This is what one would call a blessing in disguise. All the pressure is off and they can figure everything out on a more reasonable timetable now. Maybe saric shows star potential now

The Sixers weren't under any pressure this year other than to develop their young players and begin to form a team around them.  No one was projecting or expecting them to be a playoff team this year.  Next year is when I thought they'd make the playoffs but they need Simmons and Embiid on the court together developing their repoire.  Embiid is going to feast on all those sweet dimes from Simmons.  Saric will be a good player but I don't see him becoming a star.  I can still see Okafor becoming a (lesser) star.

If Sixers fans really want to get giddy, they can project forward to next year's draft.  They could have 2 top 5 picks in a strong PG and SF draft.  Imagine if they get Fultz or Smith and Tatum or Jackson.  Fultz/<insert any warm body>/Tatum/Simmons/Embiid would be one heck of a young talented team to develop.

The Simmons injury isn't going to seem awesome when you watch this team, for the 3rd straight year, begin the season without a single guy who can collapse a defense and force rotations.

It's going to be painful. Not to mention the Simmons-Embiid PnR was the only thing keeping me sane haha

I read the expected return for Simmons is probably January, but maybe they keep him out.   They know Simmons is there long term as he's widely thought to be a transcendent prospect.  This let's them focus on the rest of the roster until the February trade deadline.

You guys ought to just go big with Embiid at PG.  Embiid, Saric, Holmes, Okafor and Noel who is going to stop that.  Offensively put everyone in the paint and play keep away from the small ball teams.  You could also try a snowbird offense and defense.  Okafor always stay on the offensive end because his defense isn't going to help much anyway.  Noel stays on the defensive side to defend any transition opportunities.  Play at a very slow pace so those guys can play the whole game.  Bring Grant or Covington in for foul trouble.  Get your guards cheerleaders outfits cause they ain't getting on the court.         ;D
