KD has the best place to set up shop Boston .

And the Boston / Cav war is ......ON
Basketball-wise,it's going to be equal. It's going to come down to lifestyle and intangibles. I think our chances just increased from long shot to real legitimate shot.  Legendary day in Celtics history if they pull this off.

The Golden State Warriors have indeed reached out to Clips guard Jamal Crawford, but all things on hold until KD decision
So if KD does come... Is that enough to get Paul Pierce back for one more run?

Is Horford enough?

This all tells me one thing gents; we have definitely got to be in the top 3 suitors for Durant at this point. He can go back to home, and most assuredly would be the smarter thing to do on a 1 year 1 player option contract; but only if he insists on not being able to win championships.

OKC is still infinitely the better team if Durant stays, and he probably should next to an MVP candidate in Westbrook. Who if I may say so, can certainly run any team on his team, and still lead his team to the playoffs.

But I feel like we're really close to Durant.

Tom Brady, of course, was absolute genius on Ainge's behalf. Durant also seems to show a lot of love to Boston. And he has to be diplomatic as an individual, considering his profession, but he has sent us a lot of shutouts and love.

I felt like the icing on the cake for the meeting would be bringing over Larry Bird.  :-*

If Westbrook will not commit, then Boston is clearly the superior option vs OKC.

The risk of what the team will be without Westbrook is too great.
even if Westbrook commits, that team is super overrated. Without durant they will struggle to make the playoffs.  They were in the lotto a year ago when durant was hurt.  Garbage supporting cast aside from Adams.

I was just watching an ESPN clip featuring a panel of 5 people, and the majority opinion is that Boston, with Horford and Durant, would be no better than OKC with Westbrook and Durant, but I disagree.

I admit to wearing green goggles, but I think Boston's primary supporting cast of IT, Crowder, Smart, and Bradley is better than Adams, Kanter, Waiters, and Oladipo.

Do the breakdown, and it's pretty clearly an advantage to us. If we wouldn't add anyone else:

PG: Westbrook >> IT
SG: Roberson < Bradley
SF: Durant = Durant
PF: Ilyasova/Kanter (not sure which one) > Amir (equal if Ilyasova, advantage them if Kanter I guess)
C: Adams < Horford

Coaching: Donovan  < Stevens

Bench: OKC < Boston

Conference: West << East

Future/Assets: OKC << Boston

And that's without adding anyone else, which is doubtful. I think we're clearly the better situation when everything is considered.

Just don't see it. They may have the better starting five due solely to having the addition of Westbrook, but when the bench and coaching is considered, let alone the other factors, I think we're both the better team and the better situation overall.

It's undeniable that Westbrook and KD are just not good fits together. Perhaps if they were a better fitting duo they wouldn't be in this situation.

I saw that clip as well.  Those guys were ridiculous. One of the guys said there was no chance of Durant going to Boston.  ESPN sucks.

I know there have been changes, but remember how bad OKC was when their two stars went down?  With the Celtics, you are adding Horford and Durant to a 48 win team.

Its still undeniable those two are monsters. They have dominated the Spurs in the playoffs, and certainly could end up going back to the Finals if they stayed one more year. Without Ibaka, they'll have to adjust to an more aggressive pace on offense to make up for their lack luster defense. But an perimeter duo of Westbrook and Oladipo? Scary. Both strong and pesky defenders with high motors, and I fear OKC could still make up attempting to have Kanter at the 4, and just shoot threes lol.

Great news!

Everyone knew this anyways. There was absolutely no way he was going to that salary cap hell hole.

I bet Miami will be told they're out of consideration next, and many are saying that San Antonio was very overshadowed by Boston today. So I would bet they're either next, or he'll just announce where he's going with OKC, Boston, GS, and SAS all still in consideration.

I see OKC/GSW as our main rivals. GSW could make it work by getting rid of a lot of their players, but they could just go after Crawford, or an excellent scorer off the bench that can shoot, and ante up on their bench.

But if Durant doesn't want to go through this again, we have got to be in the running. I'm just not trying to remain too optimistic, and get my hopes down.
