I don't understand the long essays players write to explain their decisions nowadays.

I just want them to state their choice and a quick line or two to explain why.

So much drivel in those long essays.

He didn't even say anything that actually explains his decision in that essay.

On one hand, I've lost all respect for Kevin Durant.  Joining a 73 win Golden State team is a 10x worse than what LeBron did.  Completely anti-competitive.  On the other hand, I'm happy he stabbed Thunder management in the back.  Maybe Clay Bennett feels what Sonics fans felt when they robbed that team from Seattle.

I wasn't even bothered by what Lebron did. This move is terrible though. Especially since it comes after Lebron's heel turn.

Doesn't this make Lebron look good though?
We could really use David Stern about now to veto it as anti-competitive.   8)

What a sell-out. I've always loved KD as a player, and I would've been fine with him going just about anywhere. I knew the Celtics were long shots with him to begin with.

But to lose to GSW in the conference finals the way they did, then proceed to go join up with them after they JUST went 73-9 is PATHETIC!! What a loser.

Couldn't win one on his own I guess, so he had to ride the Curry train to a championship. I'd have ten times the respect if he went back to OKC and lost out every year.

The Cavs will be the most supported team ever during next years finals, but now they need to move pieces otherwise they have no shot at winning. Could they replace Love for a more suitable contributor? Could Lebron take a discount for the year and get the big raise later?

That seemed like a boilerplate article where he could just swap out team names.  Probably a slightly altered one was written for staying in OKC.

I'm disappointed KD won't be joining the C's, but I don't get all the crying in here either.  LeBron decided to form super teams for the past SIX seasons.  He didn't just luck out, he intentionally joined those teams with purpose in the same way KD is going to GSW.  If the best player in the league, the best player of this generation is doing that; how can anyone else compete?  It's not going to guarantee rings, but raises your chances substantially.

So if KD, Al, and somebody like Butler or Cousins somehow ended up on the C's along with IT and Sully still intact, you guys wouldn't be crying foul right?

PS - I really thought LBJ joining super teams to win rings would tarnish his legacy - in my mind it still does - but I think generally speaking the majority of fans have given him a pass on it.

It's written by a ghostwriter, just like LeBron's was.  The length is pure politics so he can say he did right by OKC.

Well...2017 NBA finals...let's go cavs?
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Why is Conley still the headline on the Players' Tribune?

Celtics fans, of ALL FANS, should not let playing with other superstars tarnish any legacy.  11 rings in 13 years was not just Bill Russell, those teams were stacked.  That said, it wasn't the players creating those teams, like today.
