if we can't get  durant , this is what i would like to see done  horford 4 yr deal , pau 1 yr  20m

I'd try ad convince Gasol to take a pay cut in order to win another championship. If we bring in Gasol for cheap then Duramt will come.

Gasol is their best bet if they don't sign Durant. But a 2 yr deal--he's up there in years. Doubt he wants to play 4 more years.

Gasol is the last UFA available. He's a scorer who likes to play the 5. Horford prefers the 4. Good rebounder and shot blocker. A great player over the years.

Not big on this.  We might as well be the hawks if we do this.  We have better other pieces but why screw it up.

If no Durant I'm more than happy with Gasol at 2 years 20 mil.

Would Pau Gasol be a good fit for us.

if we don't land Durant - pay him big on a  1+1 deal, team option year two. But you could arguably throw enough money at him on a one deal that he might bite.

Maintain your flexibility this coming off season for Durant.

Even if by some miracle we do land Durant, Gasol on a short deal still feels like a good fit. Great passer, long at the rim, good elbow jumper, great team chemistry guy.

Not the long term answer obviously, but we could pull Zizic and Olynyk behind him at center, run Horford and Amir at PF...

We'd have four guys that could truly play either PF or center in the right situations (Gasol, Horford, Johnson and Olynyk.

Thoughts?

I'd be very happy to pick up Gasol.

I don't think we have the cap space to do this and also get Durant, but I am pretty sure Gasol is an unrestricted FA...and if so we could probably bully Chicago into a sign and trade.

Could we do Amir Johnson plus a couple of picks to Chicago for a Gasol S&T?  Im sure Chicago would rather get a pick or two out of Gasol's departure rather than have him leave for nothing.

No need to trade.  If there's no Durant, we currently have just shy of $10 million.  If we release JJ we're at $15 million.  Although it depends how much you'll pay for Gasol, I guess.

Yeah but I'm thinking if we DO get Durant.

We could play Durant as a small ball four, but I'd still prefer to have Durant at the three, and bring in another big man to start alongside Horford.

We really more rebounding then we would get from a Durant/Hoford duo, and more post scoring as well.  If we could work a S&T for Gasol, then we could start Thomas / Bradley / Durant / Horford / Gasol and could have Smart / Crowder / Olynyk being the leaders of our second unit.

That would be deadly.

Don't think we need Gasol. Pick up Amir option.

Hey, hey, I asked if anyone had any good hawk recipes ;) ;D, and I stand by what I said in regards to Ainge and the draft.  What did I say about Horford, though, except for the fact that I never thought that a major free agent would come here?  Brb, performing search ;D.

You're just well known to like to whine about every non move, or good move. Same poster who created a one-off hashtag called "DannyBeingDanny .

It got no play so you might just want to insert your name in there instead of Danny's. He'll make you chomp on that crow year after year.

I think in our Pace and Space offense, Gasol's skill level wold be very valuable and he's a heady, smart player. Great team guy.

I would have already called him whether Durant is coming or not. Even if Durant comes he said he would be willing to take a pay cut if it meant a chance to win a ring.

I think it's interesting that it's been so quiet on the Gasol front. Blazers may offer him something large but he's not going there. He'll go to San Antonio, Boston or some other team at a discount for a chance to win
