I remember reporters saying he doesn't want to play in Boston.
So why does he meet with us?
Media has become a joke lately. They play GM and have no real insider info.

I'd like context on that, since all I've seen out of Howard's mouth is a lot of praise for our organization and our fans.

This was years ago though.

Yeah I don't remember him saying anything recently

That was during the trade deadline rumors about him.
And yeah, he never said that, reporters did. That was my point.

After a poor season last year, I doubt any team will want to throw max money at him for 4 years.  Hopefully, we can convince him to a 1+1 deal to up his value this season.  I don't mind paying him the max if it will only be for one season with an option for the 2nd year.

Nobody wants to, but in this market, don't you have to ?

If you want a player in this bidding war & new cap, there will be some funny numbers.

Apparently many people here don't want neither of the 2 of the best top 3 best defensive centers, but then again still screaming for a rim protector, I don't get it. Howard can be a good fit in Boston.

He opted out of, what, $24 Million??

He definitely wants a bigger deal for a longer period. It's his last big paycheck so doubt he takes much, if any, paycuts.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

I mean, Dwight does seem like a perfect candidate for a 1 + 1 type deal this offseason to try and rehab his value a bit and take the long term contract next summer for more money and stability. I think I'd still prefer Horford, but Howard would still be a great second option.

Hack-a-Howard is most likely gone next year, too, so that makes him more attractive.

I'd guess he signs in Atl, though, which would be good for us with Horford.

Well, if Dwight is one of Durant's wishlist, then I wouldn't hesitate plus he provide solid rebounding and rim protection. If its a short max deal, then I might consider it too.

Apparently it's only the C's and Hawks so far, too. That would be an absolute perfect scenario for us, because it's a win-win. If Howard wants to sign with us - win. If Howard wants to sign with Atlanta - win, because then that means Horford is gone with us being his frontrunners.

Well hold on. The ESPN article says the Hawks want to pair Horford and Howard. So it doesn't immediately mean we are getting horford. It might, however, let us negotiate for millsap though. Because, what are they gonna do, millsap at the 3? Would that work?

Hearing OKC fans saying Durant and Howard don't get along, could hit a snag. Hm.

Lol. Funny.

With one of, if not the smartest GM's in the biz, I doubt this type of pitch will go through.

Dwight is a great Plan B who instantly makes us Cleveland's top rival in the East. It's exciting to see us get meetings with arguably the top three free agents (Durant, Howard and Horford). Hopefully we'll score.
