Seems like a lot of media chatter that unless Curry goes bonkers or LeBron lays an egg that LeBron will win the Finals MVP even if the Cavs lose game 7.

Thoughts?

It's hard to imagine a different outcome that would seem more appropriate, no matter who wins Sunday.

Just for some support.  James leads all players in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks and is shooting 51% from the field.  More support, Curry would have to outscore him by 41 points to overtake him.

This isn't last year where he had the stats but not the efficiency.

He scores 20pts or more in game 7, yes.

There was a pretty good case to be made for LeBron last year, but this year I think he has to be named MVP regardless of Game 7's outcome (unless, I don't know, Player X from GS scores 50 and hits the game-winner at the buzzer; then, maaaybe, LeBron isn't the most deserving, but only then).

Curry is shooting a shade under 42% this series and has been very up and down; Green was suspended one game and a no-show last night; and Thompson has been meh. It takes a mighty effort to be worthy of MVP in a losing effort, but I think 2016 Finals LeBron would qualify (if, in fact, the Cavs lose, a result I'm feeling less certain about these days).

Undoubtedly. I'd vote for him even if he lays an egg in g7 while Curry drops 50. In practice, he'll need to put a valiant individual effort in order to win over voters if the W's win g7.

I agree that LeBron should be MVP, as gross as that is to say. Have to point out that Klay Thompson is horribly underrated, though... GSW would have lost in 6 had it not been for him.

no way, game 7 decides it all.
if it is the cavs, it has to be lebron, but if it's the warriors and they will win by 15plus, it can be curry dre or klay all depending on the game 7 output

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Nah, in the regular season any number of players from various teams should have a chance, but in the finals, only a member of the winning team should win it. Let's not forget that Kyrie was as important in game 5 as Lebron. If GSW wins it, then Lebron should not win the MVP.

Lebron won't win mvp if GSW wins
As either curry, Klay or green will probably do enough in the game to make them mvp
If green wasn't suspended he would have gotten it
But curry just needs a big game 7 to seal it

Why? So he can be next up to Jerry West? Doubt it unless they win it all.

Should have been MVP last year.
