As I would love the Celtics to make that move that they need to bring in a star player to compete for a championship I also believe there are some great players in this draft so i came up with this scenario..

Trade for Jimmy Butler (or of course Paul George)
in exchange for #3, Jae Crowder and Terry Rozier

Trade for #8 pick ( Jaylen Brown, Buddy Hield or Marquiss Chriss)
in exchange for #16,#23, #31, #35 and future first

receive a star and a future piece ... win, win, win....

ok now bring on the hate...

Last year, Ainge offered six picks to move up from #16 to #9, and it didn't work. I highly doubt Sacramento does this unless the future first is something like a Brooklyn Pick or the future Memphis First Rounder (And I say no to that).

I'd rather keep Crowder and Bradley than get Butler. If we have to part with one, then I would part with Bradley, as Bradley becomes a Free Agent in just two years but we have Crowder on a team-friendly deal for 4 more years.

That being said, I would do:

#3, Bradley, Amir, Hunter for Butler and that's my absolute best offer. If they want more, then just hang up. I personally don't want to part with Bradley or Crowder to get Butler (Bradley and Crowder combined make less than Butler per season), but if it must be done, so be it.

I think if we give up Bradley we should keep Rozier as he's an electric player and if, god forbid IT or Smart got injured we need Rozier as depth.

Oh, my bad it was #9 not #10.

But I think Ainge did offer six picks.

regardless this draft is much deeper... so 31 and 35 will get first round talent

That's true but I think the Celtics should keep #35.

I say that because after #3, I would take:

#16 - Sabonis/Valentine (whoever is available)
#23 - Thon Maker
#31 - Ben Bentil

If you need to give up #31 to make the SAC trade happen then go ahead, but I'd hope they keep one of those picks (#31 or #35) and nab Bentil, an underrated player in this draft who some project could be like Millsap if his skills translate into the NBA successfully.

I know I'll be ridiculed for this, but one second round pick needs to be for Wiltjer.  Go look at his draft combine video and check out his ball handling then compare it to a guy like Bolomboy.  Then watch his shooting.  You think, they must edit out all the misses, but then on Bolomboy's and even Jamal Murray you see their misses.  Murray's shot is low and right in front of his right eye.  For a average size guy who doesn't get a lot of lift on his shot, I don't see that going well in the NBA.

They just don't make 6'10" guys who shoot like Wiltjer can.  Then if you watch his workout and highlight videos, you see he isn't just a spot up guy.  He can make shots off balance, falling away, and on spin moves.

His pick and pop game, or slip screen to the three point line is tailor made for today's NBA game.  I think he is going to be the steal of the second round if someone doesn't take him in the first.

The question is, can he defend and NBA position.  He has decent bulk for a 4 at 235 and not the worst quickness in the world on the drills they were doing.  I think he could be good enough to skate by.

I'm not saying he is an all star but I think he could be a great floor spacer for a second unit and then see how he develops.

I'd offer #3 to Philly and get Okafor and others back.  Then I'd work with GSW to do sign and trade for Barnes.  Now I have my big in the middle and a shooter, plus cap space and assets for other moves.
