If your guy falls or if Bender/Hield/Murray were at #6 would you trade Crowder to the Pelicans even if we got back another future 1st?

I've gotten almost 100% no's but I think it is a fair question. Especially when I ask the people who say that the #3 is our most valued asset and believe we should pick Bender with the #3......but if he falls (or another guy you like) would you possibly support a package around Crowder for the #6(if someone falls) and a possible future 1st unprotected/limited protections?

I mean, I guess if Brandon Ingram or Ben Simmons fell to 6, then sure, but otherwise there's no one in this draft I'd trade Crowder straight up for, given the four years left on his contract.

No and I'm not even a big Crowder fan. The top 8 of this draft all have too many questions for me. Crowder was looking like a top 10 SF before the injury. I'd do Smart, all nets picks, 16, 23, 31 and Crowder for Davis though lol.

Ya this is what I got. I have to take a step back sometimes and see all the pieces but I think it is def a very good question and puts things in perspective in regards to Crowder's value, which is high especially because of the years he has left on his contract.
Now AB and IT have great contracts too but they have less time and that is something that we should watch in relation to their value, if just in order to have a case study in value.

Personally I think Davis could be asking for a trade down the road too.

I think he wants one right now. He lost how many millions for the late tank job? We should start a free Davis thread lol

Count me as a person that doesn't think the Pelicans would do that. Also...wouldn't we have to take back like another 5mill of salary?

I think it's us who wouldn't but if they could really use someone to handle the 3 for them and with many of their guys becoming FA's I could see them throwing in a future 1st as well.

Yes, I would do that but I cannot imagine New Orleans doing that.

The #6 pick sounds a big overpay for a guy like Crowder.

At first I though, no way, then as I thought about it maybe it isn't a bad idea.  It obviously depends on what a trade built around Crowder means.  If it is straight up then;

1 Simmons
2 Ingram
then 3-6 would be some form of Bender, Brown, Murray,  Dunn and Hield.  So we'd be guaranteed two of those guys and someone like Chriss or one of the big men might slip in there too.  Now assume we are really making a play for Harrison Barnes to play the 3 and we might be on to something.

Maybe we go Brown and Chriss and try to be super athletic.  Maybe Bender and Murray to create floor spacing.  Maybe just the best two players available Dunn and whoever.  It might not be a bad idea.

The top 8 or so guys in this draft all have legit chances to be significantly better players that Crowder. That's not a knock on him at all. Some of them are very young and you may have to wait two or three years, but they all have decent chances and the whole time they'll be making a lot less money.

The Pelicans have enough needs at enough places I can't see them doing something like this. Crowder is good but he's not exactly a building block (like what they need there).

However this supposed they will not only give us a building block but a future one as well.

I just don't see it.  I would think a team far more likely to want to do something like this would be the Raptors, but they are our main rivals right now to move up in the world so I don't see that either.

Its one of those trades that neither team would do.

Doubt NO would do it. It has to be noted that Crowder has broken down physically in 2 strait playoff runs. After all of the injuries the Pelicans had last year, I don't see them trading for someone who isn't a 100% sure thing.

Dude got knocked the Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. out last time. I'm not sure that counts like a normal injury.
