Great news.  Zizic is going to end up a top ten player in this draft

It would be cool to take the 2 Croatians bigs that have already been playing together for years. Would probably help the transition to the states.

I agree and it may actually help their development. It's also nice that their games seem to compliment each other well.

A possible option could be to draft and stash the 16 and 23 picks with Korkmaz and Zizic. This way we don't clutter our roster with players unlikely to contribute next season. Instead, we can overpay some vets (Deng, Joe Johnson, Dudley etc.) on Amir Johnson type deals and carry over the cap space to the summer of 17.

I would be SO happy with this.

Please, Danny, no more guys up front who can't jump or rebound. We have enough of those.

I don't mind draft and stashing guys but I don't understand paying for vets who we know are not part of the future. Why can't we primarily play the guys we have hope will develop and increase their value? Vets just get us swept in the 1st or 2nd round. If they are not part of a contender I just don't get it.

Just watched Zizic video. Looks like a tough kid. Can score inside with either hand. Not very quick or athletic, which takes him out of the elite category. Bender is better, if he can get some meat on his bones. Zizic may not match up well in the middle against bigger, more athletic players in the NBA. Adams type, with maybe a little more offense.

I'm still enamored with this kid Thon Maker, who looks like he might be all-world.

It allows the draft and stash guys time to develop. If Young or Hunter beat out one of the vets we bring in, then that's icing on the cake. It also gives us very moveable deals during the deadline for a potential longterm player/star in terms of matching salary.

Well, as of this morning's update, DraftExpress has their Mock Draft saying the Celtics will reach for Marquese Chriss at #3.

http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2016/

Make of that what you will.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Wow that's way too early for Chriss. Interesting to see whether they know something that we don't ::)

Can you imagine the reaction on this board if Ainge uses all three first round picks on Europeans?

I wouldn't mind Bender, Korkmaz en Zicic. If the first comes over right away and the other two play another season in Europe, I'm totally cool with it.

Depending who's on the board obviously but I'd be happy with that. Ideally I'd like to use some of our picks, perrhaps a guy like KO too, to move up into the back end of the top 10 and get another solid rookie like Poeltl or Davis.

Deytona Davis!
Big man may be the steal of the draft

Does Deytona Davis remind anyone else of Derrick Favors coming out of Georgia Tech?

Zizic looks like solid backup center material. Good late first round pick.

He's a GM so of course he is researching and conducting due diligence

Ainge on scouting Bender last weekend:

"We actually thought (seeing a practice) was better than a game because we'd seen all his games," Ainge said Wednesday during a press conference to announce contract extensions for him and Celtics head coach Brad Stevens. "We'd seen him play in person in games, and because he's not playing a major role as an 18-year-old in a tough Israeli league, we were able to watch him practice. And we thought that was more beneficial than what we'd seen in games."

Of particular interest based on the constant talk on this board claiming that  “”WE” don’t have any info on Bender:

“… we'd seen all his games,”

“We'd seen him play in person in games,”

No, "of particular interest" is the fact that they found watching him in practice more beneficial. Tells you how much weight you should put on the "amazing display of tools" people drool over around here.
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

You are obviously wrong....
Playtime doesn`t matter and GMs/Scouters  always speak their mind.
It doesn`t matter that Bender hasn`t done anything the last two years... He had a good U18 tournament 2 years ago and that is enough
