I start to like Simmons less and less (as a person) with every new piece of information that leaks.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

That's not really a shocker though. I think most young players want to be in a large media market with endless endorsement opportunities and more potential revenue streams.

I'm of the mind that a player should want to end up in the best situation for him to succeed on the court. One could certainly make the argument that LA would be a good landing spot for Simmons in a basketball sense, but he seems to be interested in LA solely for branding reasons. Does that really show the dedication to winning that you want from a potential number one overall pick (especially one whose desire to win has already been questioned)?

Honestly I'm not really liking this kid as much. Apart from his lack of fire and effort to take over games in college, he's also focusing on this BS. Give me Ingram please.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

He wants to play under good weather conditions and under a coach that will go easier on him

What a softie

This is such a strawman; the argument is not that Ben Simmons is soft. There was already major concern about Simmons' fire and desire to win. This report adds to the notion that winning might not be the most important thing to Ben Simmons.

From my own personal perspective, I agree that a player should want to go to the organization which gives them the best chance to succeed on the court. That should be first and foremost.

If Simmons only wants LA for branding reasons, I agree with you. That would not be a good sign for any team drafting him.

I was already a bit concerned about Simmons' fire, his killer instinct. While watching him, you can see that he shies away from big shots. I thought that might just be a product of his lack of confidence in his jumper, but now it seems like he might not care all that much. I am going to try to reserve judgement until we get reports about what teams think about him in interviews, but I am a little more concerned about Simmons than I was earlier today.

Yeah, and I wouldn't be worried if a report came out saying that he wanted to be reunited with his old teammate. I have no problem with guys wanting to play with their friends--I wasn't bothered by the LeBron wanting to play with his buds thing. However, that is not the report that we have; we are now discovering that branding opportunities are what Ben Simmons cares most about.

There's been something about Simmons' mentality/personality that I've been uneasy about. Not necessarily that there is a lack of a fire to win, but maybe that he's more of an "LA-type" than a "Boston-type," if that makes any sense. Or there's almost an ego issue there.

I don't know how much this report affects that perception, but I do see where there is potential worry there. He reminds me a lot of Julius Randle's mentality/personality in wanting LA over Boston. I'm so glad we got Smart over him, who fits the team perfectly.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

  • Celtic's only raise championship Banners
I hope we do get the 1st or 2nd pick so we can trade it for Cousins and then sell Durant on signing here.

Then we can make trades and put together a team to make a run at a few championships. Also having the 2017 and 2018 nets picks will help.
