Man, I don't know how to feel on this. ET has really grown on me. He's helped us out in so many ways these 2 seasons. He's singlehandedly won us games with his nifty behind the back move and his pull-up jump shots. He's also been somewhat of an impediment to getting smart full time on the ball duties. And he's gonna be expensive.

This is going to be a tough decision for Danny this summer.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

How ironic that the Knicks and Magic are interested - they're both looking at Frank Vogel to fill their head coach vacancies.

Danny Ainge was "candid" - that sounds like he basically said, don't plan on being back.

It's too bad. Turner has become a big part of this team. But I can see why Danny would move on from him, even if he's willing to take  a couple million less than market.

Turner said it was the first time a team wanted him back.

It basically sounds like the Celtics find him useful, but just simply might not have roster space.  Ainge probably told him that they would like to re-sign him, but there are all sorts of moves that would have to happen first.  Turner should expect a call after July 1 if the Celtics make a big trade.

I thought that after his experiences in Philly and Indy that Turner would really value his time in Boston and want to stay, but he's already old enough that he's probably only got one big contract left in him.  We could be talking about and extra 8 or 12 million dollars over the course of a four year deal.

I like Turner alot as a person and also as a player.  4 year 34 million would be good I think.

Yeah, if he demands any more than that I'd say let him go.

Danny needs to make this happen otherwise the Celtics may have another Billups situation to deal with.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

What?

Billups was a rookie when we traded him, and developed into an all-star. Turner's been around long enough and had enough chances to prove himself. He's a solid 6th man/secondary playmaker and that's not going to drastically change at any point.

I agree, and I think he will be back. I think Ainge and CBS like him, and Turner loves to play here. Most likely Ainge will wait to see how other moves play out this summer, to make sure that signing Turner doesnt compromise our other opportunities, and then he will offer him a reasonable, hometown contract.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I like Turner a lot and hope there is a roster spot open for him.

This is also advantageous because he will be more valuable in a trade (down the road) if he is on what is considered a good deal.

Yeah, that's what it sounds like to me, too - they'd love to have him back, but ultimately it's going to depend on his price tag.

Turner could actually garner quite a bit of money in free agency this summer. I'd say he might even get some offers of over $12M a year from some desperate teams looking for some playmaking on the wing, e.g. Brooklyn Nets. I'd like to keep him if everything works out with us upgrading the roster and having enough money to sign him to a reasonable deal, something like Crowder's deal would be fair for Turner. He's an excellent 6th or 7th man for us.
