A spot-up shooter with poor fundamentals who can't guard a chair.

Bad pick by Ainge that should be off-loaded this summer if at all possible.
and at what place in the draft did hunter get chosen? ha, ha...all those wonderful options that were available and ainge didnt need to use 20/20 hindsight to know that.  ;D

i remember so many on this board advocating for hunter at #16. but ainge was correct to pick rozier at that spot. i can see why he picked hunter. hunter is a very smart player, but with limitations. the biggest is a lack of 3 point shot so far. but who knows? hunter is still young and he could very well develop into a nice bench player yet.

in any case, again, why the rush to judgement? it is too soon to judge, as can be said about a number of players on the celtics. let's wait and see.

Hunter has the upside to be a 40% three-point shooter with adequate enough defense to be a regular rotation player off the bench.  He is nothing special athletically, so he will have to make it work with intelligence and effort, and that might not be enough.

on hunter's possible three point shooting, i have seen something akin to that many times. please provide us with the basis for this optimistic projection? i am not saying, he wont. but i am asking what it was that convinced you this is a distinct possiblity.

in college his 3 year average for 3 point percentage was 35.5. not bad. but not 40%. as a sophomore he did average 39.5%, but that was only one out of his 3 years in college. as a junior he averaged an unimpressive 30.5%

why favor the sophomore year stat over the junior year stat?

thanks in advance.

I think he does have some smarts to his game, and potential as a passer and on defense.  However, he needs to prove he is really a shooter.

Also, he was the 28th pick so keep expectations there.

Because the junior stat, he was the go to guy and the only option for his team. Also, he did have some poor shot selection, but no one is asking him to be go to on this team, we just need him to step in and nail some open shots from time to time.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

I rely on predraft write-ups for thinking that it is remotely possible.  Worse college three point shooters have become 40% guys.
