Ira Winderman is a long time Heat beat reporter and very reputable.

Wow... @IraHeatBeat telling us on 560 WQAM right now that he believes Chris Bosh will never play another NBA game again.

Link?

This is very sad
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

Terrible news but not surprising, and a lot less terrible than if this had developed into a Reggie Lewis situation.  Glad it was caught in time and carefully monitored.  Best of luck to Bosh, I always dumped on him as a player but he seems like a decent guy.

Wonder if he still makes the HOF despite the early end.  2 rings, 2 more Finals appearances, and 11x All-Star appearances suggest he probably will.

I have this feeling...  Bosh retires, Al Horford signs with the Heat

I wonder if Bosh would retire. If he tried to play and was unable to the Heat wouldn't get the cap space.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Doesn't work that way. They won't get his cap number off the books this summer.

If he chooses to retire or is forced to retire due to health reasons I think his cap number would come off the books.

I'd be surprised if Bosh didn't challenge that.  As recently as last week, he was posting public images about wanting to come back.  This week he got the union involved.

I read somewhere that it comes off one year after the date he's ruled medically unable to play

I think it's 12 months from when it was discovered he couldn't play. In this case, it's the second clot since he played after the first one. Regardless, a league appointed physician has to agree that Bosh is indeed unable to play.

Bad for his basketball career, but good for his life. He still made his money and unlike a lot of players he is a guy who can do stuff outside of basketball if he wants to pursue other interests.

His story could've been much worse.

I do feel bad for the guy, but if this had happened the year Bosh was hurt in the playoff series against us, with us leading the cHeat 3-2, and he didn't come back for games 6 and 7, we win that series. He hit some BIG shots and pushed them over the top.

Sucks to hear this, but he has already had a above average length of a career. Also better to retire now, than run the risk of stroke or heart attack mid-game.
