6.   Hustle alone won't cut it in the playoffs.

Even if we lose, we won some games and did not get swept, which is progress

Like I said when the Celtics were down 0-2, I don't think I've learned anything I didn't know before the series started. Nothing that has happened so far is particularly surprising, except maybe the fact that the Celtics tied the series after losing Bradley.

I go with this...Even the points made in the original post were all things we knew before going into this series.

1. The series isn't over yet
2. Fans are a bunch of bandwagon jumpers
3. Fans are a bunch of bandwagon jumpers
4. Already knew all this

TP agreed... People around here make it seem like we are the lottery team with the 3rd best odds at #1 and not Brooklyn

I have learned there in now evidence that this team is very much like the old Charlotte Bobcats playoff teams around Wallace.

They played harder then everyone else in the regular season.  (that is still a good thing)  They had a lot of good players playing at a higher level then they have shown in the past.

Come playoff time, when the contender and many of the other top seed playoff teams had a second gear to shift into, this team does not.

None of this is a negative.

The positive is that the Celtics are set up so much better then those Bobcat teams to improve and take the next step with includes bring in that next level of talent that allows the good players the Celtics already have to fit around that star.

If everyone has been paying attention, then we have learned very little from this series. This thread is littered with things we all already knew and nothing that we didnt already know.

We knew this team was tough but lacking frontcourt talent and offensive talent. We knew Brad Stevens was a great coach. We knew health was paramount for any team's success in the playoffs. We knew Atlanta wasnt the best match up for this team. We knew just about everything mentioned in this thread that discusses the minutae regarding this team.

For me, about the only thing that I learned is that Marcus Smart has a much higher ceiling than I thought he did if he can ever get his shot to fall at 45/35/80 rates across the board and if he can play with more intelligence doing so on a consistent basis. For me, thats about all I have learned from this series that I didnt already know.

We've also learned that the series isn't over yet.

Yeah but the OP statements aren't in regards to this team getting knocked out or moving on, just observations on how some of our players have played through first 5 games.

Whether we get knocked out in 6 or 7, or win a 7 game series, I think most of his points have some validity.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Not to get your hopes up...

And that AB really is important to this team, but I will rationalize a trade of him with our new improved version [Rozier].

And that...

You are in 2013: your roster is made up of rookies, scrubs and salary dumps. Your coach is a rookie.

Fast forward three years: fanbase complains the team is not good enough for the ECF. You know it must be Boston.

1. That home court advantage means a lot in the playoffs
2. That the Hawks are a bad matchup
3. That Giannis would've been a better pick than KO.

I agree with all this especially #3.

1. It is hard to win with a banged up team.
2. The importance of home court advantage.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

First I would like to say I never expected to win the championship this year but I DID expect to win a first round series and then lose to Lebaby & Co.

1. All year I have been a proponent of Sully and blowing off all the talk about the weight, etc. But he has been exposed in this series that in the playoffs he just can't keep up with the speed of the game.

2. Turner is a "keeper" and we should do all we can to keep him.

3. Last night's game was an example of what happens when they "overplay" IT and we don't have a Bradley to shoot the ball. We don't have another good 2nd or 3rd option.

4. Kelly looks totally lost in this series and he has never played strong but he is really soft and unreliable.

5. Rozier has looked pretty good overall - except last night when he allowed Schroder to pick his pocket on inbounds under the basket. That was "unacceptable" but the kid has a good future if he can play a little more under control and use his speed to his advantage.

6. I have also learned that with all the talk of getting Horford this summer I am not sure he is an answer. I mean he is playing as bad as several of our current players. Yes "regular season" Horford with Amir would be a nice combo but what happens in the playoffs. We don't need players that disappear.

7. I can't believe the Celts have basically had their ass kicked by "Bazemore". Really? We have nobody with speed or athleticism to guard him. Bazemore? I think I puked a little in my mouth.

I expect to win Thursday (if IT can play with normal speed) but unless they can figure out how to stop Teague's penetration and Bazemore it will be another repeat of last night.

8. Stevens is a really good coach - extend him now Danny.

1. I'm with you on this.  All season I thought people were overreacting, but Sully has been a liability on both sides of the court this series.  It feels like he can't even get off the ground.

2. Would love to keep Turner for the right price, but I anticipate we will be targeting other playmakers so his skillset would be wasted

3. I thought Isaiah was also just making bad decisions in general.  When they trap him above the key after a pick, he needs to find someone faster to we can punish the defensive rotation

4. Kelly...yuck

5. I don't mind Terry getting his pocket picked in that situation.  He's a tough kid, it will make him better.

6. Horford has played a lot like Sully in this series.  They both just seem overmatched and a step behind everything.
