I will start off by congratulating GS coach Steve Kerr for winning the coach of the year award. Yes his team won 73 games this year n broke Chicago's 72 game record but Steve Kerr missed half the season and he's got one hell of a roster. Look what Brad Stevens did with 1/5 the roster salary. Stevens was the 1st coach to go into the Oracal and break GS home record. Although I still think Kerr is one hell of a coach, I feel Brad Stevens should be coach of the year and if it weren't for that record, Brad would of walked home with it...

What u guys think ? Brad should of got the coach of the year award or does Steve Kerr rightfully own it even missing 20 games ?

TP for the Homerism, but Kerr absolutely deserved it this year.  I think Pop is probably second and then Stotts and Stevens are in a tie for 3rd.  Don't worry, Stevens will win at least 2 or 3 by the time he's done.

If it weren't for that record, whoever finished second probably would have won.

While all three films of the Lord of the Rings trilogy were nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars, only the last one won, and some observers sensed that the Academy voters were holding off until the last movie.  Stevens will get his accolades, but the voters probably aren't going to hand him COTY until he makes the regular-season push to legitimate contender.

I agree that the fact that he missed half the season should matter.  I would have liked to see him and Walton together on the ticket.

I'm also always a little skeptical when the same team has the MVP and the Coach of the Year.  If they had the best player (and I know there is no strict definition of MVP), then did the coach have that much influence?  If the coach was that great, shouldn't he get the credit over the player?

i guess you could argue that in this case, the fact that they had the best record ever could only happen with the best coach and most valuable player.  Or you could argue that yes, he was extremely well coached, but this led to him becoming the best player.  How he became the best player is irrelevant.  Whatever, I've confused myself at this point.

Meh, don't see the outrage in this at all.

Definitely a chicken-egg situation.

I would never reward a coach for taking a below average team to mediocrity.  Just not that impressive to me.

That's fine and all, but if you think the Celtics are mediocre, you need to look up the definition of the word.  Unless you're not referring to the Celtics.

I think Pop should win every year because he is the best coach every year. I call it the Belichick Rule.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Nah.  IMO Stevens is roughly where he should be.

I take issue with the winning coach only actually coaching for less than half of the season, but that's a separate discussion.

Kerr and his coaching staff, who I hope he gives a ton of credit to when he speaks to the media about the award, deserved the award this year.

Pop easily did the second best coaching job this year.

After that I think Stevens, Stotts and Cliiford each did about the same coaching job taking teams with limited talent to the playoffs.

I dont think there should be any outrage over these results.

He seems to be a pretty good coach, but overrated in my opinion. I'd say sixth is generous, if anything.

No.  And CBS and Terry from Portland both did a great job (with the roster they had to work with)

I don't agree with the overall list

I would say

Kerr
Pops
CBS and Terry tied for 3rd

Luke Walton got more ripped off than CBS.
