Durant's not coming here, neither is Horford. It's doubtful we can acquire Butler or Cousins. Thomas can't get it done against playoff competition and game planning.

Are offense is dreadful, Kelly is make out of glass and we got unlucky with Avery.

The worst pick we can get is the sixth pick Which means  we will get the sixth pick. Simmons, Ingram, Bender, Hield, Brown, will all be gone and Ainge will take Dunn.

We scored 7 points in a quarter the worst EVER in the shot clock era.
The sky is falling. Woe is me. Someone please console me, the end is near.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
lol.
It's very possible that all of the above happens and I'm not sure how many people are considering just that.

I think Ainge overpays for Butler or Love with draft picks if nothing else happens.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

KD couldn't score either in game 2.
Future can't be worse for us.

Last night made it clear than we need a scorer. A big-time scorer. Not that it's something new but it's just a crude reminder of the reality.

If you have to overpay for one, be it, but ideally it would be KD or Cousins.

Don't stress it.  We're supposed to lose in Atlanta.   We just need to get the job done in Boston and try to sneak a victory on their home court.   We almost beat them in game 1.  I think we can cope with missing Bradley, but it definitely requires adjusting.  Stevens will work some stuff out.

We still have a shot.

Really, though, Atlanta is a solid team and there's no shame in losing to them.  This playoff appearance is mostly just an appetizer for next season.  I really believe the team is in great position to make upgrades this Summer.  We will definitely have options.  I'm excited to see what Ainge pulls the trigger on.

If you can't spread the floor, even the best scorer in this game will struggle to score with efficiency.

Since the "Optimism" thread was polluted with negativism...

The Celtics are still going to win this series.

Yep. Coaches actually truly game plan in the playoffs.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Realism is what I like.   Not hokey optimism, or negativism and neither helps you.

We are still a work in progress.  The good stuff may happen this summer.  Ainge is a realist, his comments before the series indicate that.

A big-time scorer alone won't fix everything on a woeful shooting team like this one.

We need multiple scorers, which is going to require the expenditure of a bunch of our so-called "assets." Be interesting to see if Ainge is willing to pay market prices.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

I think the think I'm most negative about is, not only are they playing awful, but it appears pretty much every player has lost trade value.
Smart, can't shot. Once the guy who was supposed to be the future, now merely a good defender.
IT, has shown that he is a 6th man. Sorry but for an All-star to play as badly as he has in the first 2 games has to lower his value.
Crowder, a guy who they apparently wouldn't trade for Butler had been a non-factor. I know he's been injured, but he cannot even hit a wide open 3.
I could keep going, but can anyone give me one player that has not lost value? Besides the Nets pick, what do the Celtics have to trade that isn't at an all time low value?
At least before I was hopeful for next year, now not so much.

It's obvious that the Hawks are a superior team. Atlanta is a very good, balanced, experienced, defensive and offensive team. Not great, but really really solid.

Even if the Celtics were healthy, if AB, Kelly, and Crowder were 100% I think those of us that deal in reality knew the Hawks would win this series. When you eliminate our second best scoring option, and eliminate
one of our better 2nd unit scoring options, on a team that has trouble hitting shots in general when they are healthy, then what did you think would happen?

At this point the Celtics brass need to take a realistic look at the performance of the remaining pieces.

CBS has done a great job with a 5 ' 8 " star and bunch of over achieving role players / rookie types .

AB , Crowder and Smart, maybe KO  are good backbone support cast .

Frankly we NEED Boogie ....to hang the next banner ...if it's in the near future.
