  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I'm starting to think that Hield might actually go 3rd in this draft.
He's showing the makings of a great NBA scorer ala Gilbert Arenas.

What's separating him from others is that he's proving that he can create and drive/score off the dribble and not just catch/spot up shoot.

I mean he's becoming an almost shooting guard version of Tracy McGrady with how easily he's scoring.
Does anyone else think this guy could go 3rd on draft night?

I don't think he will go third, but I'm not sure it would be a bad idea to take him third.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Right handed player, constantly driving left. That's usually a good sign.

Very impressive. Probably the most complete player in college basketball atm.

If the Brooklyn pick is 5 or 6, he's the guy I want.

If its 3 or 4, I'd like to see what teams will offer for the right to draft Bender/Brown/Dunn

The biggest knock on Buddy (and why he won't be picked that high) is his age. He's 22, already older than Smart and RJ Hunter. Not really convinced on his defense. I wouldn't draft him until 6 at the earliest.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I think age is a bit overrated.

I mean Kelly has made pretty big strides for us since coming into the league.  A lot of people talk about the Young vs. Hood decision and a big point in Youngs favor was youth while a knock on Hood was age.

Jae came out pretty late and hes improved a ton, same with Jimmy Butler. Draymond Green has been a similar story. Lillard was kinda old, same with McCOlum.

Wow, nice highlight reel!

I think he can go 3rd if one of the fringe teams jumps up in the lottery. Perhaps they choose the immediate help?

You can definitely see him in the running for it though. He'll pass Dunn if he hasn't already. Then Bender is always going to be an unknown compared to Buddy who is very much known. Then Jaylen Brown who should still go ahead of him but again, maybe a team selects by need instead

I mean he's gotta pass Jaylen Brown, Dunn, Bender, Murray.... Not a huge list of wings that he's competing with and he's had better seasons than all of them. He looks like an NBA player out there. I mean he's 22 but the improvement he's shown in one season is spectacular.

He's just a naturally gifted scorer who is going to be able to shoot from anywhere but also take the ball to the hole off the dribble.

Age- Bah.
Who cares whether he is 19 or 22. Free Agency makes age less relevant.
The average NBA career is roughly 10 years for 30 plus minute player per game.

Buddy Hield is why we shouldn't worry about pick.  If we draft in the top 2-GREAT.
However, if our pick from Brooklyn drops to 5-6 Then Buddy Hield will be a great draft day yield from the field!

My question with guys like Hield is, why didn't he get drafted sooner?  What has changed in the last year or so about scouting report that makes his NBA prognosis a lot different than it was before the start of the last college season?

I think we are likely to trade the pick, so the more players that look great in that range , the better the value of it. If a team like the Bulls thinks Heid is legit, it makes it easier for them to move Butler for Heid, Smart, and change.

The difference in age is in terms of upside. Studies have been done that indicate the average NBA player improves until the age of 28 and then begins to decline.

Those studies are by no means definitive, and there are many factors other than age. Basically players who work hard keep improving until their bodies start falling apart/ageing, which is why 28 is a decent average. It depends on how long players have been playing, how many minutes they average, how many serious injuries they've had, how much they want to be he best/hard they work, what mentors they have, and their bball IQ.
