palms the ball, holds it out in front of him , brings it backs to get a proper grip on it and then shoots. There are so many unnecessary steps in his shot that just makes it tougher for him . Why not get a smooth process instead of this wuwu stuff.

It makes no sense for anyone to shoot ft's this way.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I agree. I wanted to make a twitter account just to ask him if he's ever considered changing it because it's not a smooth routine like his in game jump shot. It's just not natural.

Anyone with Twitter wanna ask him?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I don't think it matters as much as you guys think it does.  As long as the actual shot motion is good he can do whatever he wants before he shoots it.

His statline tonight was also ridiculous (in a good way).

For some reason, Sully appears to be one of those players that fans are never satisfied with. He was picked #21 and is, bare minimum, a legitimate starter on the 3rd best team in an improved Eastern Conference. He turned 24 just over a week ago.

I understand the frustration with Sully because it's easy to convince yourself that he could be so much better if he lost weight. Without getting into why he hasn't lost weight - it's so difficult to consistently gain weight during the regular season, I'm beginning to think he has a genetic condition or something - my advice is to appreciate Sullinger for what he is: a very productive two-way player that we landed at the cost of a late 1st rounder. Start doing that, and you'll likely find it much more enjoyable to watch Sully play.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

Irritates me more than I'd like to admit. Anytime he misses a free throw this my first thought is that his routine is too complicated.

If he messes up one small part of it, it puts him out of rhythm for the rest of the shot.

Jermaine O'Neal probably leads the all-time total.

Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich

I would guess Shaq.  He was terrible so everyone wanted to get in to rebound and he had that awful second hitch to his shot.  Always got guys jumping in the lane.

As far as Sully goes, as long as once he brings the ball back in it is one smooth motion, it shouldn't really matter what he does before that.  Of course he shoots it at 63% so it might be worth trying something else.  I wonder if any coach has addressed it.

over his career, sully is shooting 73% from the ft line. that is not terrible at all for a big man.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

His routine is terrible.  He is a good shooter and would hit his free throws at a much better rate without his dumb routine.

Why don't refs call lane violations [in general, not just with Sully] anyway? I mean, it is so blatantly obvious of a call that it just seems arbitrary when they decide to enforce the rule. They should either rule it out completely or just start calling it every time it is clear...because in Sully's there is ALWAYS a lane violation. It just seems unfair to the guys who are trying to abide by the rule.
