I'd agree with this, potentially Crowder as well. Think about it. If you wanted to get a guy like Griffin, better chance the Clips would want an established player over a pick. So in that way these guys are all worth more

IT is cheap, has become the soul of this team, and is a player free agents might like to come join.  They don't want to come play with the Brooklyn pick, even if it's Ben Simmoms.

I don't know. I think many people over value this pick. Right now it looks like 3-4. Assuming some team jumps up, per usual, maybe 5th. I don't really see anyone outside top 2 as being that special. Top picks bust sometimes as well.
I'm certainly not sure anyone drafted 3-5 will be better than IT, Crowder, Smart, or even KO.
I hope the Celtics hit the jackpot, but it's far from certain.

Let's be clear -- there's a good chance that Brooklyn pick, if used to draft a prospect, doesn't yield a player who ends up better than the best guys currently on the roster.  In that sense it's not unreasonable for Ainge to say they value some of their guys more than the pick.

But that pick is also still the best chance the Celts have at getting a top-tier talent, whether via trade or drafting and developing somebody.  So there really isn't an asset under their control right now that's more valuable or important.
