If Pierce can guard Lebron so can Crowder.
I think you're selling Pierce a little short on that. He did about as well as anyone i've seen cover Lebron.
that said, I think the best way to handle Lebron is make him work on D. Few teams do but that was one thing we could do when we had Pierce. Lebron actually had to work on D.
Also, Perkins always did a nice job with his help D on Lebron. You definitely need help from the back line against him.
I thought Pierce was our best defender on LeBron, despite the myth of Posey's defense on him (which deceased as the series went on).
But what was true of that is that probably the biggest and most important aspect of it all was the defensive system we put in place and definitely Perkins role in it. In that particular series and assignment at least.
When LeBron caught the ball, we more often than not maneuvered our defenders so that he had 3 players between himself and basket at all times.
So yeah, Perkins was very important. Not because of rim protection and all that, but because of his crisp positioning.
