  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
The Grizzlies are Testing the Market For Jeff Green and Courtney Lee. Let see who bites. Ainge did great with his trading of these two players. We have a top 5 GM for sure. Where do they end up in the end?

"People look at players, watch them dribble between their legs and they say, 'There's a superstar.'  Well John Havlicek is a superstar, and most of the others are figments of writers' imagination."

Courtney Lee was a very productive player for the Grizz last year, shooting 40% from 3 while playing good defense, for the MLE.  This year he's shooting 35% from downtown, which is still useful.  Danny gave up a 2nd to get rid of him.  The Grizz will likely get a second or two from his new team.  It wasn't a bad trade by Ainge, given the situation, but it was nothing special.

Jeff Green, on the other hand, was a fine move.

I'd use up some low 2nd rounders and Lee to add those guys to the bench. Injuries do happen afterall.

I'd take Jeff Green back for a couple of seconds considering how many we have. He'd be a decent bench player under CBS on this team.

I'd trade one of our 5,000 2nd round picks for Lee. We could use another shooter off the bench, and I really liked him here in Boston.
2025 CelticsStrong Historical Draft Orlando Magic:
PG: Chris Paul, Fred VanVleet
SG: Ray Allen, OG Anunoby, Zach Lavine
SF: Paul Pierce, Gordon Hayward
PF: Chris Bosh, Serge Ibaka, David West
C: Tim Duncan, Andrew Bogut

If their GM was worth his salt ....he could read the game threads and know what he was getting.

First class citizen and LOW motor humble player.

Lee wasn't happy about his minutes or bench role, maybe that's changed for him but I know it hasn't for CBS. He pretty much called CBS a liar too, don't know if it would work.

I wouldn't take Jeff Green back for free. Lee is backup shooting guard, we have plenty of those. We need to up grade, not move sideways.

Courtney Lee was also very productive for Stevens, was rewarded with only 17 minutes of playing time which I still have trouble understanding. But he was on his way out regardless, so whatever. But sad to see someone who was shooting almost 50% from the field and 44% from 3s not given more of a chance to fit with our new direction.

Evan Turner and 2nds/cash/Young/Rozier if necessary for Courtney Lee.

Why for them?  Turner is younger, a much better playmaker, and could bring offense which they need.

Why for us?  Lee is a great hustle guy, and fits our pace/space mentality, while Turner stalls the ball movement, and can't hit the ocean.  Smart/Bradley/Lee/Crowder/Johnson is quite an assortment of defensive players.  And no chance we sign Turner after this year, unless we make a roster-condensing trade or trade some of these picks.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I'm not going to quote it because I could be wrong but I remember him saying something along the lines of CBS telling them if they play well that they would be rewarded with minutes and that he thought it was just talk because he wasn't getting the minutes (he deserved).

He isn't the only one to say something similar (Bayless, Jae, IT4 etc have), I do know we shipped him out after he started complaining about it. I'm sure it's hard for these guys to play the few minutes they do and not be rewarded with more minutes when they play well/better than others. Bogans couldn't handle it so they sent him home. I think the guys who are more okay with not getting MAJOR minutes are the ones we keep longer (during CBS' time).

Yeah it was something along those lines, and I don't blame him.

Stevens was playing Crawford 30 minutes a night, he was playing Bradley 30 minutes a night, Green an 35 minutes a night, Rondo 33 minutes a night, Bayless later came on (in the trade) and played 25 minutes a night, Chris Johnson played 20 minutes a night later on, Pressey played 15 minutes a night as a rookie.

And you mean to tell me that a Stevens could only manage to find 16 minutes a night for Courtney Lee shooting way beyond his career levels, and known as someone who puts effort defensively? I'd say he was outplaying almost everyone if not everyone named above. He was right to complain because Stevens was certainly being inconsistent with what he said with what he did.

57 TS%, 55.5 eFG%, 49 FG%, 44 3P%.
