My guess is Walton will get an offer from the Lakers.

None of the above. Both would have better opportunities than the hapless Nets. Why settle?

Blatt showed nothing to deserve top billing for another head coaching job.

Luke Walton would be an interesting move for the Nets. He had a lot of a good qualities as a player that should translate well into coaching. He did fine this year but hard to screw up when put in such an advantageous situation. Terrific talent, stability and all the coaching work already done before you show up.

I'd hire Thibs over both of them. Nate McMillan also. Proven top tier coaches.

Need to consider the city, history, ownership etc

Nets have not been shy to spend money/make trades(though the last big one, Danny got the best of it). Brooklyn is a rising city

Can you imagine thibs taking over a rebuild team? He would lose his voice for sure

I think he will be the pelicans new coach

Lakers fans are ape crazy about wanting Walton to be their coach.

I think they will be sorely disappointed .   He is not a CBS " brainiac " .....an assistant with a famous name and no experience building a team .

Walton doesn't impress me as a coach .  The Warriors already knew their exact roles ,,fit and everything .

Lakers don't have any where the talent level of Warriors . ......I don't put much stock in to Walton at all.   He just lets a smooth machine run and not screw it up.

I'd hire Blatt.  Let him mold the team to his preferred philosophy and make his mark.  Don't hold him to the expectation that he's going to lead the team to playoff victories right away.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Blatt, for sure (if we are choosing between the two). He had a lot of success in Europe implementing his own style and philosophy and surely has more experience building a team than Walton. This is not to say Walton can't be successful in this league, but all he has proven is that he won't screw up a team firing on all cylinders (which is still somewhat impressive).

Of the two I'd go Blatt because of his credentials from his time in Europe. I think they end up with someone else though, someone like Scott Brooks. Or if they are sensible, find a college coach who can grow with the team without the pressures of instant contention
