Has us taking
Dragan Bender #3 4-5
Caris Levert #20 1-3
Buddy Hield #22 two guard
Isaiah Briscoe #31 two guard
Aj Hammond's #35 5
Tyler Ulis #47 PG
Danuel House #51
Buza #57
Just staggering that we have 8 picks, and five in the top 35 overall. Has anyone ever had more than five out of thirtyfive?
The first three picks would be fine with me, doubt Hield last that long though. I found his flaw, he's listed at 6'4.5" with shoes, so he's probably around 6'3" without them.
Aj Hammond's would be nice at #35. The rest of the picks make little sense though.
I would either draft Brice Johnson aka the new Matrix, or package the picks up and grab Sabonis JR.
If we could score
Bender
Hield
Levert
Brice Johnson
Sabonis
That would be an outstanding draft. We could wait on Bender for one year if necessary. Either retain Amir, resign Sully, or grab a free agent big man.
I appreciate what DraftExpress is trying to do - they don't make trades in their mocks - but this becomes one of those times a mock for the Cs is worthless. This simply can't happen. It's an impossibility because the Celtics don't have that many roster spots open. Trades have to happen and therefore predicting any actual draftees (with the exception of the Nets' pick) in a non-trade mock is basically a non-starter.
Granath, I here you that's why I consolidated to five draft picks in my example we technically could have six open roster spots.
Amir and Jonas declined.
Sully gone free agency.
Turner gone.
Lee gone.
Zeller gone.
Add to that we can draft and stash.
This is where I disagree with ppl getting overexcited with the draft.
If we do the above we ll be back to year of 1 of rebuilding.
Just to give an example, Tyler is a nr 17 pick that is now approaching his peak; why let him go to give playing time to a nr 20 (our pick) or 21 (Dallas) draft pick rookie?
What we ll do with all these picks given the roster limitations is a serious and important question. But having a roster with 10 first/second year rookies is not the answer.
