Funny that you brought up nutrition, why do you think that would matter for a scout.

Well I dont pretend to be any expert on what makes an effective talent evaluated but like you said in your original point I'm spending 40+ hours a week evaluating potential multi million dollar assets. Nutrition would come up after I've decided that this player might have a future in the league and the question then becomes how long of a future?

Part of the evaluation process would involve how likely they are hold up over the long term, I'd like to see injury history, I'd like to know what their strength and conditioning routine is, and I'd like to know what type of fuel they are putting in their body.

This ain't like the 80's, most of the top prospects have a training staffs maximising their potential, if I find out a talented player drinks monster all the time to wash down his cheeseburgers you better believe that will be factored in to my final evaluation.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I reffed a junior high game once. I am 100% sure I did better than an NBA ref. For one thing I was not crooked or grossly incompetent.

I'll tell you what Smartacus, you would be really disappointed in the kids lack of professionalism in that regard.

I was so disappointed in Michigan's basketball program in regards to there nutrition and weight training program.

Most if the kids are just that. Kids. They are so genetically blessed they can eat whatever they want and be 6% bodyfat. The longevity maybe is a good Point, but Gary Payton was drinking and pat like an animal his whole career, he could handle it, Vin Baker could not.

I actually think I should do this job. I have picked out guys taken in the last 5 drafts after the Cs pick which have turned out better (Jeremy Evans over Luke Harangody included).

Mef, give yourself credit...even my Mother is a better scout than Jordan as GM.
completely agree.  need to swap the Me with Michael where Me could be everyone else but Michael

Personally, I'd be pretty bad.  I don't follow the college game enough to do well.

Not the final factor KGLL, for most eating right comes once their metabolism starts to slow down but like I said it would have a spot in my final report.

I'm pretty sure many elite prospects like Harry Giles(get well soon!) are already watching their intake and hitting the weight room then you've got guys like Jonathan Jeanne who looks like a skeleton in the arms. All of this gets factored into my personal scouting report. B)

I think I have an eye for certain things.  Whether I could do it who knows.  Why not with some coaching? I always wanted to be a GM growing up but those jobs are pretty tough to get lol.

Dunning-Kruger sound like some guys who thought to highly of themselves.

If the guy you wanted is better than who the GM picked, than you were smarter in that instance.

 It's really not rocket science.

I looked in to becoming a scout. It's hard and you don't get paid or reimbursed for ANYTHING. Also many times you have to move to Asia or Eastern E.

Here is a great article on grantland about scouting and entering the profession

I don't really buy that logic anyways since players that are succeeding elsewhere might not be able to play on this team.

On paper Antetokounmpo looks like a better pick than Kelly but who's to say what our spacing would look like if we took him instead. Maybe Giannis wouldn't have gained the confidence that he developed as a focal point in Milwaukee and would have flamed out as a bench project in Boston.
