The thing Crowder should have done, and hopefully did I didnt see the game, is to go out and shut down his opponent. That way he let's his play do his talking. It is ridiculous though that opposing coaches can get away with this stuff.

I he let's Whittman effect his play then Crowder and the Celts have lost that battle. Make opposing teams pay for this crap with your team play. That way they won't be as likely to use it again. When an opposing player gets out of line the entire Celtics team should concentrate on shutting down the other team.

Well he did have the game winner right after this supposedly happened

Wittman is an ass and Wizards would be better of without him.

I love Jae, as a player and as a person. He plays hard and that comment is not bothering him.

While it is not very wise and certainly not very classy for RW to do that, I don't see the fuss behind all this. The coaches talk to opposing players all the time. Including the refs and audience, so for me it was not a big deal...

Crowder should have keept his mouth shut cause that almost cost us already won game.

C's up!

Crowder was talking to the Was bench way before that. I wonder what was said to get the T. Jae and Nene were yapping but it didn't seem too much or too angry then Crowder gets a T. The refs sucked. I had to watch the Was home anouncers but I can imagine Tommy must have been going nuts.

Calling a technical like that with the balance of the game at stake was about as turrible officiating as I ever seen.......interrupted the whole flow of the game ......or rather the refs allowed for game to controlled by a richard on the sidelines intent on causing trouble and cheating for his team.

If they had been doing it all game like some people on here say , then why wait till the last mi ute of the game to worry about it.

Bush league refereeing and Coaching by Wittman.

The officials and Wittman are absolute trash far as I'm concerned.

Totally agree. You can call a T for something that is clearly deserving of one or you can call one to keep control of a game. But with a few seconds left? Come on! It's like how they don't call fouls with a second to go before the half or a late game foul needs to be hard to get a call. Why on earth call a T with a few seconds left to go?

For the record, the worst officiating was when they let portland play 6 on 5 aginst us and count a basket they made when we were all yelling to the ref they had 6 guys on the court and not in any way playing D as we assumed play would be stopped. That was the worst ever.

I would like an NBA insider to tell me how often this sort of thing occurs.  If it's all the time then so be it let it go.  I have a  feeling it's rare though.  Regardless of common or rare, why can't/shouldnt the NBA fine Wittman after reviewing the situation?  (I mean if they can catch it with camera, etc..)

If they're not going to let a player step off the bench during a fight (Stoudemire gets suspended just when the Suns are going to take down the Spurs in the playoffs), then they shouldn't allow this fight -instigating verbiage either, not without penalty.  Will someone tell me if Tommy comments on it next game or in the studio?

Regardless, it's funny for being so wrong/off base.  Try for a little accuracy with your trash talk man!

It wasn't way before that that the yapping seemed to start. It was in the last 1:30 when Nene nailed Crowder under the basket on what could've been called a flagrant on Nene on the same play that Wall got phantom fouled by Amir on a 3 ball. Refs ignored the Nene mauling and called the 3 shot foul on Amir.

Bush league stuff by Nene and Wittman.

Crowder was hammered in the face by Nene, and the game announcers were speculating as to whether it was a flagrant 1 or 2 for contact above the shoulders.  Instead, the refs, after reviewing the play called it "incidental contact."  Poor call.  Jae was stoked up and the bench was badgering him, he answered and got the T.  I think Stevens drew up a great play so Jae could get the winning bucket, so the sweetest revenge is on the scoreboard.

In the post game, Crowder said it was an assistant coach he was yelling at, and said it was his mistake, he should have let it go and focused on the game and that it would not happen again.  It was a class act response, and he got ahold of himself and won the game.

Probably the guy with the eye patch. Anyone else see him during the game?
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

At the end of the day it's just words. If any of you have played or coached the game at a competitive level, sometimes emotions get the best of people. I really don't have a problem with Whitman opening his yap.  Tells you how competitive the game really was, which was a lot better than the night before when Phoenix didn't even try to compete.

These guys are all pros.  They make a ton of money and they're adults, so they can handle it.  And Jae shut him up in the best way possible.

Winners need to have poise.
Crowder and Smart need to control their emotions.
