If the pick was somewhere between 4-6?

He would be a perfect fit under CBS.  His shooting has improved this season.  Is already a good passer and versatile defender.  Is a SF/PF

No. We already have plenty of guys that can't shoot.

see the clip above. Gordon can shoot.

Is it the prettiest of shots? no.  He is shooting the three at 34 percent this season. Up from 27 percent last season.

Gordon would fit under CBS and with this team. Can only get better

Worth considering. I'd want to see how guys like Jaylen Brown develop over the course of the college season before I know whether I would do it or not. Right now, I'd lean more towards selecting one of them -- J.Brown, Bender, Skal, Dunn. Maybe Poetl.

But it is definitely something I would give some thought to. Aaron Gordon is progressing well.

Another idea along the same lines:

(1) Draft Kris Dunn with the #3-6 pick
(2) Trade Smart for A.Gordon

Celtics would have an excess of guards after picking Kris Dunn. Trade Smart for Aaron Gordon. A similar type of character (leadership traits, work ethic, defensive mindset, toughness) and similar type of glue guy (elite defense, rebounding, passing, ball-handling, gradually improving jump-shot and scoring).

No.  Maybe for our own pick.  And I wanted him over smart too but glad we have smart.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Not if it's top 5.
I like Gordon but I think there are some guys with more upside in he top 5.
Gordon's still having a hard time getting to the rim in 1v1 offense which was always the knock against him.
I'm not sure if he'll ever get good enough handles to play SF-and if he did it would have to be as a straight line drive guy like Jae Crowder.
I could also see him as a super version of Kenneth Faried and we could put him at PF.
We'd be the best defensive team in the NBA with him at PF.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Gordon's shooting ability comes mostly within 3 feet, From 3' to the arc he still shoots under 30% and he's improved beyond the arc to 34% which is passable. His TS% is passable for a PF, but if it's predicated on doing it against 2nd string talent and within 3 feet of the basket, his numbers might be inflated.

I put a link below to compare him and Amir Johnson who plays the position with similar defensive numbers (but Gordon's likely to get better, though DPOY is a fantasy), with Amir having a much better TS% and stong advanced stats. Gordon may or may not surpass him. but I wouldn't want to use a high lottery pick to find out. Gordon deserves more PT, but Skiles is a win now guy and Gordon's still pretty raw.

From:  http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2607615-play-that-man-nba-big-men-in-need-of-bigger-minutes#

Quote
Still just 20 years old, the forward is averaging 13.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.3 blocks per 36 minutes, and he's shooting 48.3 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from beyond the arc. Every one of those numbers is up from his rookie season's marks, and the combination also puts him in a rather unique position.

During the 2015-16 campaign, only four qualified players have averaged at least 13 points, nine boards, two assists, a steal and a block per 36 minutes while matching or exceeding Gordon's shooting percentages. This includes Golden State Warriors superman Draymond Green, and since 1985-86, only 19 different players have even hit that mark during a qualified season.

Like others have admitted, I too was hoping we got Gordon in the 2014 draft.  Still just 20, there is plenty of upside but not enough to offer the 2016 Nets pick.  It doesn't seem as though Gordon has found a position.  We would need him to be a full time SF to have this make sense I think.  I don't see any reason to trade for him if he needs to play at PF.

Although not the Nets 2016 pick, there are plenty of other combinations that I would consider for him.  I think there is still plenty of upside for him.
