We are so bad, we got Crowder, a solid "role player", trying to be a scorer to save us at times. That shouldn't happen on a good team.
I don't understand. We are 1-5 in our last 6 and are still a game over .500 Having faced a more difficult than average schedule. This is following up the second half of last year where we played the second half well above 500.

However we go on a skid and all of a sudden "we are so bad"

I'm worried, but I need more proof than 2 weeks of had basketball before I deem us "so bad"

I know that my member name is Marcus smart and that's because I love the way he plays but every post I've seen you make has basically been either "we're ****ed" or "Marcus sucks"

It seems like you just can't get over the fact that trading rondo was arguably the best thing Ainge has done since the nets deal.

Fwiw I'm not a blind Marcus supporter. I have been very disappointed in his inability to develop offensively this far. It's a shame because if he could score at a decent rate he'd be a great player. I do think he can develop into a scorer but games like these make you wonder.

Tp for the good laugh, man, even though I'm sure that that was not your intention.
Where does the logic fail. The posters name is KeepRondo and all he's done is rip on Smart and the team. The team that was built by trading Rondo.

No rondo trade = no Isaiah no crowder smart in a smaller roll perhaps even no Jeff green trade.

Post ACL injury Rondo made us a worse team for a year, then we trade him and are far improved for an entire calendar year and the we start playing like **** for 6 games and we suck etc Marcus is garbage blah blah blah

Re reading it I was p---ed because the Cs are playing terrible and I come on here and it seems like people are gloating about it and I think I made a pretty reaching probably inaccurate statement but it's not laughable I think the logic is still there.
stop crying
After taking a half hour break to watch Ricky Gervais **** on everyone I came back and went through the blog a bit and realized my characterization of your posts was pretty much completely wrong. My bad on that. Hope you can understand the frustration I was feeling after this game.

I do feel we can get it together but this loss really ticked me off.
no problem. Easy to do and happens way too often on these boards.

great observation. but who the hell ever said this years' celtics team is a good team? coming into this year i expected around .500 from them. they are living up (down?  ;D ) to that expectation.

let's revisit, for second, the thoughts from last year at cb.

this...
is...
a...
rebuilding...
team.

this is what, year 3 of the rebuild? we should expect such games from a young roster. as was posted last year on cb many times, let's wait another year or two before passing judgement on ainge's rebuild.

We got spoiled by some good play and some analytics fever.

However the last 6 games this team has been really really really bad.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
We will be fine. We are still working things out.

I have pondered lately how well our team from last year would have done if the East were as tough as it is this year. eg: put last years team into this years Eastern Conference.

Are we a top 10 lottery pick?

The one thing Brad has to teach these guys is "killer instinct" but I don't know if he's capable of doing that considering his coaching style!!! great coach but he just might have to express himself a little firmer.

A few thoughts.

1.  I still think we are a good team that is in a major funk right now.  Avery getting hurt, even if for a short time, really hurt the team.

2.  The issues seem to be in the 3rd and 4th quarter. The team plays more freely and is able to take advantage during the first half when the other team isn't playing with the same intensity. The second half comes around and the other generally turns up the intensity. The young c's aren't responding very well at the moment. I think another reliable scorer would help in the this regard.  It would settle the team down and take away some of the momentum that the other starts to gain.

3.  Everybody talks about how this team lacks quality outside 3 point shooting. While this is true, I think a bigger reason for the offensive struggles is a lack of a true post player.  David Lee was awful last night and was a big reason we lost. If he hits two or three shots during the third and forth, we win.  Simple.  But he couldn't score inside at all.  We seem to post up only him and Johnson.  If we aren't going to go and trade for one, Sullinger needs to be posted up a lot more. KO needs to be posted up more (but he also needs to learn to slow down a bit on the block.  He seems to just want to get rid of it...) Or we need to spread the floor with shooting bigs and post up Evan or Smart.

4. Rebounding.  We get killed over and over again.  Last night, the amount of offensive rebounds we gave up was ridiculous. AS we all know, we need a true center, even if he is a defensive and rebounding center.  Forget the offense.  Good defense and rebounding will always be a big factor in winning games.  If we can control the rebounding, our lack of a top 10 offense can easily be overcome.

This team isn't acting like a rebuilding team though.  You don't go out and sign veterans and then play them big minutes if you are rebuilding (i.e. Johnson).  You don't trade 1st round picks for players if you are rebuilding (i.e. Thomas).  You don't play veterans over young players if you are rebuilding (i.e. Lee).  This is a team that is trying to win and making moves which support that position.  This is not a rebuilding team, it is just mediocre.

You're confusing "rebuilding" with "tanking"

Marcus Smart is hardly the reason this team is seeing some bad times. The team has a bunch of soft, non- athletic, slow footed bigs we're forced to rely on. Why this team didn't draft another big besides Mickey, I have no idea.

Sully just can't play extended minutes, he starts loosing his man on D, and not getting back into the offensive flow. It's difficult to run up and down the court with a small child on your back.

Kelly is soft, he lacks big man skills, he simply doesn't like being in the paint... unless he's passing the ball to
someone else. Kelly is a 7' point guard.

Lee...forget Lee. He's wants to sign another contract, on a different team.

Amir, needs someone to get his back, he's not bad, but hardly capable of being the sole physical presents.

Zeller, plays with no passion, he's a career backup center.

Last year we rid ourselves of 2 team cancers, it's time to really thin the herd of the bigs we have, even if it means taking a small step backward. We need a few bigs with physical presents...and some talent.

I agree with the relaxing recommendation.  Yes we have been in a funk the last 2 weeks.  I know all teams struggle with injuries and the C's are no exception.  It seems that either MS or AB are out of the lineup.  In both can stay healthy and David Lee gets benched and stays benched I would expect things to improve.

On another matter, if Lee is not moved at deadline, I would expect him to remain on the team because DA may need those matching contract $ for a draft day deal in June.
