He got pretty much outplayed tonight on both ends.  He is a denfensive liability against a bigger pg/smart coach

And our bench provided pathetic production. I can't see any bench player able to provide consistent scoring moving fwd

Have Smart start to set the tone on the defensive end with AB or for now ET.

IT off the bench would provide a more balance scoring and help guys like KO(starting) have more opportunity to score

IT is pretty inefficient.  Weak defender.  He helps, but he's not an allstar.

Frontcourt is a much bigger issue than the backcourt. For all IT's negatives, he's often the one bright spot on the team. Without him (and Turner), we would be in very rough shape. Our guards carry the load every single night, defensively (Smart, AB, Crowder) and offensively (IT, AB, Turner, Crowder).

Isaiah has been great a borderline All-Star this year.

Mostly agree with you, but after last year's all star game and Kyle Korver....

Last night Isaiah had a bad game.  He couldn't throw it in the ocean for 3+ quarters.  I don't know that it is time for a knee jerk reaction based on one game though.

Given how bad Marcus Smart is offensively right now, I think leaving IT in the starting lineup for the foreseeable future is the way to go.  When Bradley is healthy I like the team being able to split up IT and ET's minutes so that one of them is pretty much always on the court to create offense when the other 4 guys on the floor are not able to.

Longer term I agree with you 100% though.  If this team ever wants to amount to anything above 1st round fodder, IT cannot be our starting PG and primary offensive weapon.  He is very defendable for good teams when they decide they want to take him away.

Thomas is dealing with a thumb injury.

Using your theory, might as well move KO back to the bench.

Thomas got outplayed by Reggie Jackson in one game.  The point is what?  Amir kicked Drummond's butt also.

IT is out best player. He starts until we get healthy and more talented.

I don't see him playing 6th man unless Smart plays significantly better.

ideally, he'd be our backup PG because we'd have a starting-quality PG ahead of him on the depth chart.  unfortunately, we don't have any starting-quality PGs on the roster.

I'm optimistic that our Rozier and Smart develop enough to be our starting back court (and be a really good combination and not just starting because there's no one else) in a couple of years.  IT off the bench would be fine (with Hunter who I'm really positive will become a key rotation player) but I suspect he'll be gone by then as will AB.  Other option is to take yet another PG this year if one is the BPA at the time of the pick.

I don't think Brooklyn's pick will slide down far enough where Kris Dunn becomes BPA but if that happened, I'd gladly take him and thin the backcourt logjam.

TP - that is what I came on here to say. Perhaps in the future IT can move back to 6th man, but it seems like a joke moving Smart back into the starting line-up. His defense is great, but he has to be one of the least effective offensive players in the NBA right now - the Cs need offense, not desperation heaves from deep and a three-inch vertical on [rare] drives to the hoop.

Dunn maybe our guy in this year's draft. At that point, I guess it becomes imperative that we deal Smart for a great return. I know my last couple of posts have been down on him, but he still has a lot of value and he defense is elite. I hope he can figure it out.
