If you are serious about competing then we need a legit center that has the following qualities, besides scoring and rebounding:
1)Can hit ft's
2)Block shots, defend the paint, and be able to switch
3)bb IQ
4)hit jumpers

Thats really it. A Karl Towns would have put us right over but we can't get him now. We have pieces we could trade for an established center like cuz but that would cost us big time. Then we have free agency. But we could always take a chance on someone, that has yet to establish themself, and in essence pay less.
I would argue that having a big name center doesn't currently translate into wins in this current league. I can't remember the last time a team won with that.
Duncan is pretty much a big Center by current NBA standards.
In my mind he is a PF as he played that for the majority of his career. I'm referencing a player like DMC and how having him be a focal point on the team won't translate to winning it big.

Cousins talent wise is on par with Duncan and he is equally as mobile so I don't know why he wouldn't. Duncan has a great team and Pop.

I am serious.  I think we definately need a big man.  I think we need a more mobile player and just a couple stars to go with Isaiah though.  I also might be underestimating Turner somewhat as a role guy on this team and overestimating players like Smart, Sully, KO and Rozier. Bradley etc.   But I think we have a chance to have a better team surrounding our stars than GS.  We basically just need a couple guys to go with Isaiah who can give us that extra punch and athleticism.  I'm souring on guys like Boogie.  I like him but he needs the ball too much and doesn't cover enough ground defensively for my liking.  Ainge targetted Noel and Winslow and that gives me an idea of what would fit. I think we can do better than that though.  I really think Simmons would fit perfectly here.  He's not even a center but he's a guy who can play all over the place and is super athletic and mobile.

Drummond can't hit free throws and is not a very good offensive player.  He's a dunk machine and can be contained if he's kept away from the basket.  We have KO who already fits the mold you are talking about.  Sully isn't bad either.  They are role players though. What we need is athleticism and scoring.  If i were to speculate I think Drummond stays in Detroit.  The Lakers end up getting a guy like Anthony Davis down the road.  Too soon for him to come here.  Boogie could end up in GS at some point.  I think we draft Simmons and do everything in our power to get him. Whiteside is pretty good but I think he stays in Miami.  He's not a passer like Simmons and can't hit free throws either.

I don't know who else is in the draft besides simmons.  We might not get the top pick.  Brown is another physical guard. Ivan Rabb.  Bender,  Poelt, Zimmerman, Sabonis.  There are a lot of big men.  What we need is like a Chris Bosh type player though who can play center.  Then back him up with guys like Amir, Mickey and even Zeller.

Porzingis would have been really good here I feel like. Not necessarily the guy but someone kind of in that mold.

Simmons to me is a really dynamic talent where we'd have to take him.

People think we dropped the ball on Portis but he isn't what we need either. he isn't explosive enough or cover enough ground. He's more like Monroe and a bulldog sort of player.  We need Ben Simmons.  Maybe a guy like Dragan Bender but I don't know enough about him.

Skal Labissiere might not come out but he's a good looking player too.

The thing is Bill Russell was so good.  Players  ike him or len bias would jump off the screen with their body and speed. Simmons is a little undersized and more offensively geared but he is that type of big man for todays game I feel.   I look for players like that. KG was another one.  Just absurd body type   who could score like a guard.

Simmons is probably more like Durant than Russell.  Durant I loved him coming out  but more just a pure scorer with length and athleticism. Simmons is more a playmaker, post up, fast break guy  who can do a lot of different things.  I dont think he is the scorer Durant is.  He's more li ke a better version of Lamar Odom or Draymond Green with length.  Magic johnson was  a pg but Simmons is more athletic than that and different than that too. He is quicker and a better leaper than magic and not as skilled.

He's a taller version of Lebron James.
