If we were to land the number one pick and selected Ben Simmons, if we could later in the summer convince the Thunder to do a sign and trade for Durant (and they demanded Simmons) would Danny trade him for Durant?
And if not, could you see and scenario in which Danny would trade Simmons for a player other than Anthony Davis?
I wouldn't trade it for Durant by any chance. Not with Durant not having some injury issues the past 2 seasons. Simmons is to good to pass up and keep. The ONLY person I would trade it for would be a Anthony Davis and only 1 for 1.
This is the worst comment I have ever seen on here. You think Ben Simmons, who has never played an NBA game and has legit concerns (has a worst jump shot than me), is more valuable than every player in the NBA besides Davis? Taketh a TP.
Sorry but you should really look at your post. You just compared yourself to a college basketball player that's going to be the #1 pick in the draft. I'm 100% sure he has a better jump shot then you. It's also something called a business move, I'll take potential he has to be a star at a rookies contract. Yes, Davis sign a large contract but he's game is beyond anybody in the game at his position. Plus, Davis fills a need for the Celtics. I could maybe think a total of 4 other players I might take for Simmons, but Davis is the only no brainer, OKC can keep Durant.
In his defense, there have been NBA players that I could shoot better than because some bigs are horrible shooters.
Danny likely trade the #1 for Durant. Durant is exactly what almost every team needs, include the Celtics -- one of the best players in the world. Me are mediocre at every position, 1-5. Durant and 2, 3 or 4 is already a major upgrade. Contract is irrelevant when a player is that good. Plus, the rookie contract is for the years that the player is developing. By the time they are great, you are paying a lot more. And there is no guarantee that Simmons is ever great. Remember the raved about Wiggins draft? Would you trade Wiggins, Parker or Embiid for Durant? No-brainer on all 3.
The comment of Davis only is a bit absurd. Danny would trade that pick straight up for Lebron in a second. Curry is also a no-brainer. Every team in the league would make that move. Not only is Simmons unlikely to every be anywhere near as good as either of those players -- those two player also have way more market value at the moment. Danny could flip Lebron or Curry for much more valuable assets than a single #1 pick/Simmons.
Some people seem to conveniently forget the long line of underwhelming NBA players who were projected as superstars in college.
