the rip and pass to lee and the boxing out of cavs center to get tough rebound were impressive but shupert was bye him for a pass for easy score and he bobbled ball and young went to floor tying him up-
young got caught up in rebounding mode and failed to protect against corner three's both daggers and those were critical daggers-
the memory of young getting blown bye on that full court dribble for a score to end quarter ,going behind a screen guarding mcdermot in chicago game and batum eating him up-his reaction time ,experience and lateral speed let him down -
i believe thats youngs defence is porous and his inclusion in some critical games was a short term detriment to team-as many have stated his improvement was immense
but that didn't detract from his glaring mistakes in crucial games

Interesting post...been looking at how the Celtics have doing with him in the lineup. Surprisingly, it has been pretty good. For some reason the C's play better. In the Cavs game this didn't work out as he left his defender wide open for 3 threes.
Not a fair comparison but Pierce was notorious for leaving his player all alone for open looks from the corner....especially in the 4th quarter when the games were close.

I didn't watch very much of the Detroit game, I did catch a short stint where Young showed some great lateral speed as he defended his man on one play. Didn't know he was capable of it. If he can play with this speed all the time and add some toughness, he'd be a good defender.

alley  good post tp
the charlotte game he was -12 and all he could do is wave-i hope his lateral speed has improved-there are drills he maybe working-i have gone back and targeted his d on replays-massive improvement BUT garing errors of judgement and defensive skill
and here is another thought he has been a surprise in rotation ,now he is getting time they may target him-defence is toughness,iq and experience as well as tools
he has length--rj did really well at combine in agility drill, shuttle  which shows the skills needed in defence i tried to find these for young but he was injured for all of the drill except vertical-

We aren't winning a championship this season. The games aren't crucial. Young's value in the league will be predicated largely on his 3 point game. He's gotta keep takin' em, and get his confidence goin'. Stevens and Ainge know this.

I feel Young is playing fairly well, considering he's basically just getting his feet wet. His D has been pretty good, he's rebounds surprisingly well, but on the offensive end of the game he's being ignored. His touches are very low. He misses one shot, and is ignored from then on out. I would like to see him more involved on O, give him a chance to flourish. He can score.
