Shane Larkin is out indefinitely for the Nets with a concussion.

This raises a few interesting points. For one, most people are probably like who the heck is shane larkin.

The answer to this is that he is crazily enough, the Nets best guard off the bench.
This pushes Donald Sloan into minutes and further erodes their horrible depth.
Thinking about how injuries to players like RHJ and Larkin have an impact, imagine how
horrible they would be if thad or lopez missed time...

Concussion? He'll be good in a few days.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

That really depends on the concussion. Yes some concussions can be recovered from in a few days, but others with bad side effects can linger for weeks, month or a lifetime. Would hope we are at the point in medical science that we don't brush off a bruising of the brain as something that simply heals in a few days. The stories say he is out indefinitely.

"The return to participation protocol involves several steps of increasing exertion -- from a stationary bike, to jogging, to agility work, to non-contact team drills.

With each step, a player must be symptom free to move to the next step. If a player is not symptom free after a step, he stops until he is symptom free and begins again at the previous step of the protocol (i.e., the last step he passed without any symptoms).

While the final return-to participation decision is to be made by the player’s team physician, the team physician must discuss the return-to-participation process and decision with Dr. Jeffrey Kutcher, the Director of the NBA’s Concussion Program, prior to the player being cleared for full participation in NBA Basketball.

It's important to note that there is no timeframe to complete the protocol. Each injury and player is different and recovery time can vary in each case."

Rough news. He's played well for them, and head injuries are really the last thing you want any of these guys to have to suffer through.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Yea I don't want to see anyone get hurt, but these are the last guys you want to see get hurt. Young players trying to make their mark in the league without having made any big contracts. By comparison, if Joe Johnson or Brook Lopez got injured  you would almost blame it on the stupidity of playing them 35 minutes a game given their age and history respectively. The guys that did get injured were freak injuries in practice.

If only all teams (at all times) followed the concussion protocol the same way...

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I mean I thought he busted his knee or something from the title of this topic, but a concussion will still make him miss at least 2 games.

I hope he's okay but the less help they have off the bench over this road trip the better.

Still baffles me how Lopez' foot is holding up all that weight for 33 minutes a game.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Yeah, I didn't mean it the way it looks. I was mainly saying it b/c I thought it was meant as a post about bkn losing a player and how good it could be for our pick. I really don't like when players go down from any team, I would like people to lose/win at full health. I want a top pick from them but not b/c someone goes down.

Who is possibly going to play back up point for him?  It's going to be like a rec league where Jack has to play the entire game because the other guy didn't show

On the court in second quarter right now, ellington, barganini, donald sloan, markel brown,  and joe johnson. Somehow they are up 4 over the heat. Will be interesting to see how the bench unit does.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
