Great first post. Welcome and TP.
My biggest concern is that a line up with
Smart
Bradley
Crowder
Olynyk
Zeller
is relying way too much on Kelly Olynyk's spacing and the 3 point shooting of our three wings for any scoring?
How does this team score well enough to get us rolling to 22- 25 points per quarter?
Welcome again
Thanks. That's very kind of you. Not to creep anyone out, but I have lurked this forum for years. I won't name names, but some of you I read and others I scroll. You are one of the people I will read.
I have the same concern and from my angle it is Crowder who would be the one most responsible for a stagnated offense in my starting lineup. Jerebko would solve that. I have confidence in his skills on offense. I am no genius at basketball analysis. I have no clue how a Jerebko at sf works in regards to defense. I hear mumbles that Crowder is overrated on defense. That I am not sure of. If true, then he was a bad signing. I have flashbacks to M.L. Carr every time he shoots.
It seems obvious Danny needs to consolidate the roster making it easier for Stevens to establish a ten player rotation. Fifteen or thirteen guys is too much. If they are all close in competence levels, that has to be a major headache for Brad Stevens.
I think my lineup works if Marcus Smart has figured out driving to the hoop. I think he has. And despite his appearance of being an M.L. Carr at shooting the ball, maybe he is a DJ who somehow makes them.
You make a great point about how Kelly in the game needs to have great shooters around him since he is so unselfish. Bradley seems to have turned the corner and is now reliable as a shooter. Jerebko or Datome was good, reliable. I think you have opened my eyes and I will substitute Jerebko for Crowder. If Crowder can become better at hoisting the basketball, I will change back.
I like the idea of Kelly out there. I am going all in with Olynyk for an it is what it is look at the roster. I like Amir but am worried he is fragile, to repeat myself. If you go into war with the army you have, then that leaves us with Zeller if one is an Olynyk cult club member.
Olynyk is like a Tedy Bruschi all over the place on offense like the football player was for defense. Zeller is more of an up close to the rim guy.
We are not a great team, but things are looking exceptional for the long-term.
James Young would have been nice to put at sf if he had developed already. It'll be quite annoying if we find out that Crowder isn't that good. I see your point.
The Celtics seem to be only two players away from being a top contender. But that will take a couple more years. I hope Danny doesn't make a trade like the one proposed to Michael Jordan. I think if people can be patient, by 2017 maybe 2018, we will be a top ten or top five team in the whole league.
Danny could probably get us there sooner, but it might not be worth it and be short-term. Of course our Brooklyn pick next year could be the next Evan Turner or Anthony Bennett. But that is cynicism. We do need a center and we do need people who can shoot. Hunter might be it. Maybe Young snaps out of it. Those guys need time to develop. If we want to win now, then we must bite the bullet and go with the Jerebko's and Turner's like was done with Humphries and Bass.
I agree with the guy Rollie who thinks Zeller might be getting a raw deal. We are dependent on situations. David Lee likes to play inside, same as Tyler. I guess that is an example of the problem of spacing. And even when there is a guy like Olynyk, seven feet, yet somehow with the ability to not clog the paint, do we really want to rely on Crowder, Smart and AB hoisting threes?
A nice three pointer lineup could be Smart or Isaiah, Bradley or Hunter, Jerebko, Kelly and Amir.
I am not afraid of the so-called difficult schedule coming up before getting some cupcake games against Brooklyn. I'll be surprised if we are not able to stick around .500 no matter what until then. Stevens has already proven his ability to be pro-active. I may not agree with his putting Zeller into the doghouse, but it has helped to give the team more focus. I do agree with his downgrading of Lee to serviceable tenth or twelfth man and bench cheerleader.
