Dear Danny and Brad, One year, just one year is all I ask. With Brooklyn winless and please oh please can we just have one chance at being horrible for one year so we could potentially have two top 5 picks that would be amazing.
Are only real tank job resulted in Marcus Smart, who's solid don't get me wrong, I like the guy but that's just not the guy to build around. We really need a significant upgrade and we can accomplish it in just one year, one stinking year is all I ask.

Also I'd like to know what your strategies would be for tanking but not you know being horrible for the upcoming years I would love to tank and somehow keep Thomas I feel like he could make an exciting losing season if that makes any sense.

I say dump Turner and Crowder if anybody would even take Jae right now. Trade Amir if you can and either Sully or Zeller.

If you just traded Thomas and Sully this team would struggle big-time.

And just dreaming here but let's say we landed the third pick and the sixth give me some names on who we take.

Thread title and content are discrepant.

Why would we be forced to tank?

Skal Labissiere and Malik Newman.

Yes! Tank it, baby ( forced to tank when C's go 4-12).  Trade IT to Hornets for 2017 top 5 protected 1st after Walker gets hurt as usual. Trade AB to Blazers for Vonleh. Get Lab via Nets lotto pick 1, Simmons via C's lotto pick 2, then Dallas goes 10 get Poeltl, and Wolves end up 13 for Korkmaz.
The future starters
Smart, Hunter, Simmons, Lab, Poeltl!
The future bench
Rozier, Korkmaz, Young, Mickey, Vonleh

Relative to needs, Newman could be the steal for the Cs. And I personally can't help but love him b/c he's undoubtedly dysregulated. Yearning for the next Nate/Delonte/etc., and dude can score in bunches.

Aside from Simmons, I could see Ingram having a big-time career in the mold of KD.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I think if they do decide to go 'development' mode it wont be until next season and they let everyone over age 25 walk.

If we do get pick #3 to #5 assuming Skal and Ben Simmons are gone I'd have to go with Jaylen Brown...He's an absolute beast and is going to be a small forward version of Russell Westbrook.
He may end up being the best player in this draft given his size, length (longer wingspan than Simmons or Labissiere) and insane athleticism.
The reason I like him almost more than Simmons is his 3 point shot. Over 38% from over 140 attempts in high school which is po henomenal for someone with his other attributes.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.

He seems like a sure bet. I like Ingram, too, and Damian Jones could turn out to be a fine player. How ideal would it be for the Nets land us a pick in the top 5? Fingers crossed.

Yeah we are truly blessed to have such a ruthless GM.
The great thing about the Nets pick is even if it is #3,4 or 5 then we can still choose from Brown, Ingram or Bender.
There will probably be some more sleepers that sneak up into the top 7 but yeah,  every Nets loss is crucial and could speed up our contender status by 5 years if we get a top 5 pick.
Fingers crossed indeed.

Too early to tell, but tanking is definitely a scenario I've been prepared for.  We overachieved last year.  This team still lacks talent.  If we start rough and mid season no star trades appear, I wouldn't be surprised to see ainge move contributors for draft picks.

We should win a couple and hover around .500 this year, though.  As long as brad keeps the players focused they will be competitive.

Why all the tank talk? We have just started the season, and though it's true we've now lost 3 in a row, why does this bring up the tank talk again? Can't we wait until November is over before we make any judgments?
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Are you kidding tank?  We could have chance at making the playoffs, get swept, end up with a mid level pick, and turn around and do it all again year after year!!!  Tank?  That's crazy talk ::)

The Green Teammers in here would love that instead of doing it the right way. Boston is a mid market team when it comes to free agents hence is why no big name free agent will ever truly consider Boston. Miami LA Texas are always going to be first and foremost in the free agent market. Boston is probably on the level of a Altanta in free agent desirability. But where they screwed up was passing on the Greek Freak and Julius Randle. Imagine that combo on this team. You build a winner by drafting future all stars. KO and Banks 2.0 are nothing close to that and at best profile as solid role players off the bench.
