As the title says, Jones was the one to go. Sorry if I put this in the wrong spot or if it was already on the board but I didn't see it on the recents or on the celticsblog main page. Courtesy of nba.com   http://www.nba.com/celtics/news/pressrelease/celtics-waive-jones-walden

Wonder where he ends up?
Hope he has a career somewhere because the guy just has all the physical potential in the world.

This was a pretty simple cut if you ask me. Maybe it would have been harder for Danny to make the move if PJ showed something offensively in the pre-season, but he couldn't even do that.

I was intrigued by the deal because I thought Perry Jones could have been another diamond in the rough, but the guy simply just didn't fit. I wish him all the best. He has all the tools but he needs to figure out how to use them.

Honestly before the deal was made I thought the same thing. Wow this kid has so many tools, let CBS at him. As the season got closer and he showed literally nothing, he really did make this decision easy for Danny. Still that little voice in my head is now saying oh great now another team is gonna pick up a future 50 ppg scorer and we will forever curse ourselves for missing out on this chance (lol.)

So, I guess they couldn't trade Sullinger and Turner for multi-allstar player.

So the C's paid about $500k (that's what wasn't covered by OKC) for a second-rounder and a chance to look at him for the fall.  And now we all move on.

Like othere said, no surprise.

When we first got him, I was really optimistic that he could become part of the rotation here but I think he's a really fundamentally unsound player. So much potential that he doesn't know how to harness. Someone else will definitely pick him up because that potential is too great. If I was Philly or Portland, I'd jump on him in a second to see if I couldn't tap into it a little. I'm even sad to see him leave the Celtics because maybe Brad could've gotten to him with more time.

But as of today, he's the easy choice to be cut.

No surprise.

I didn't expect much from him, but was willing to give him a chance to prove himself in preseason and earn a spot.

Out of all our NBA caliber prospects (including Young) he was clearly the most invisible, so at this point the cut was pretty much expected.

I don't think anybody expects us to get an All-Star in return for Sully and Turner...

But I think many of us expect that those two guys are on the trading block, and that we'd have no hesitation trading them if it could get us back an asset that is of use to us (a future pick, a starting calibre SF, a quality shooter, an upgraded rim protector, etc).

Does this mean we aren't building our offense around him?

Yea, basically guarantees we are not hanging another banner this year with this loss. Always next year.
